sin frontera - crooked stave - dbb - 04-22-2015

Bottle Release: Sin Frontera @ Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project (Five Points/RiNo)

Time: 6:00pm
The Source – 3350 Brighton Blvd, Denver, Colorado 80216

On Wednesday, April 22nd at 6PM, Crooked Stave is releasing bottles of Sin Frontera, their collaboration with Jester King Brewery and Brasserie Trois Dames.

The collaboration was born from the concept of brewing an identical recipe together at each individual brewery. Each brewery used its house mixed culture of wild yeast and bacteria, and aged the beer in the same style of Sherry casks.

“This collaboration emphasizes the diversity of brewing science. Each brewery uses a unique process to create their products, but has a similar philosophy to Crooked Stave. By experimenting with the same base recipe and using different cultures to ferment, we were able to expose the nuances contributed by the different organisms. Each beer is distinct and showcases the unique characters featured in each brewery’s process. Plus, brewing with a couple of our favorite brewers is always a fun time,” says Chad Yakobson, Crooked Stave Owner/Head Brewer.

Both the Crooked Stave and Jester King (extremely limited) versions of Sin Frontera will be available on April 22nd. Crooked Stave’s version will be available in bottle and on draft on April 22nd.

avery - insula multos collibus release party - dbb - 04-26-15

Insula multos Collibus Release Party @ Avery Brewing (Boulder)

Time: 11:00am
4910 Nautilus Ct, Boulder, CO 80301

No. 27 in our Barrel-Aged Series – 9.7% ALC/VOL – “A zymurgical ode to one of the classic – and one of our favorite – cocktails. Fancy a guess?”

Avery used their house Brett (Drie) for secondary fermentation and their house pediococcus and lactobacillus for souring to produce the cleanest sour beer they could to give the barrels center stage! The result was a dark red, strong sour beer that they aged in fresh Bourbon barrels for 9 months and fermented with cherries.

The Bourbon barrels infused tons of vanilla and coconut notes; the mild cherry flavor balances out the hint of astringency from the charred oak barrels; the lactic acid is dominant—there’s almost no acetic acid, so it doesn’t smell sour, just delightful aromas of vanilla and oak.

Inspired by the flavors of a Manhattan, which is Dutch for “island of many hills,” which of course translates in Latin to Insula multos Collibus!

Bottles of Insula multos Collibus will first be available in the Avery Tap Room and then throughout much of Colorado and in parts of CA, IL, MA, MO, NC, NY, OH, PA, TX, VA, and WA. To find bottles near you, put your zip code into the Avery Brew Finder: www.averybrewing.com/find-avery-beer
