Last week, a friend invited me to see Marketa Irglova, a musician that pleases my folksy proclivities. Known for The Swell Season, as well as her refulgent role in the movie “Once”, Marketa has successfully galvanized musician friends to corroborate her multidimensional musical luster as a solo artist. The result: Muna, her newest album to date. Marketa & co played a mesmerizing set at the Old Town School of Folk Music, a venue located minutes away from Half Acre Brewery in Chicago, and their sumptuous performance inspired me to resurrect my favorite folk songs.
