80+ Colorado Beer Releases Happening Between Now & Black Friday

Each year on Black Friday, millions of Americans shake off their tryptophan-induced comas brought on by the previous evening’s gorge fest, to shop off all their newly acquire calories. For die-hard beer fanatics however, Black Friday has grown to represent a different kind of feeding frenzy.

Goose Island began the tradition of kicking off the holiday season with their yearly release of Bourbon County Brand Stout and its subsequent variants the day after Thanksgiving. And since BCBS’ popularity, countless other craft breweries have followed suit.

Friday, November 24 at 11 am

Beer:
Coal Miner’s Delight – 4.8% abv
Our first mixed culture Grisette, this 4.8% Belgian style “table” Saison is, lightly tart, dry and refreshing with enough flavor to please any mixed culture saison drinker but low enough alcohol that you could drink more than one without worry. It spent 6 months in stainless getting tart and funky and another 4 weeks bottle conditioning. A great food beer that would taste amazing with left-over turkey and gravy sandwiches. $8 per 750ml bottle to-go (No-limit) $6 per 16oz draft pints $3 per 4oz draft Tasters

Coal Miner’s Delight – Dry-hopped 4.8% abv
Same as the base beer above but dry-hopped with Saaz and Hallertau Hops. $8 per 750ml bottle to-go (No-limit). $6 per 16oz draft pints. $3 per 4oz draft Tasters

Melismatic – 5.5% abv
Melismatic is our Belgian style Pale ale dry hopped with Hallertau-Blanc hops and bottle conditioned with Brettanomyces Bruxellensis. Another very dry and refreshing Belgian style beer. The Hallertau-Blanc hops have this fascinating white wine character with notes of pear and melon as well. This beer has a very clean crisp belgian character now, but with a little age (in a 55 degree cellar) the Brett will start to take over and bring a nice hay/barnyard like funkiness. It may dry out further and get even bubblier as well. A great bottle to convince the wine lover in your life that Beer can be just as interesting and complex.

Look out for Fruited versions of both of these beers very soon. Raspberry Melismatic and Boysenberry Coal Miner’s Delight are both bottle conditioning right now.
