Knotted Root Brewing Plans The Circular Lounge Grand Opening
A small mountain town brewery is opening a big city outpost as Nederland, Colorado favorite Knotted Root Brewing is hosting their grand opening in Denver on Saturday, May 10. From the foothills to East Colfax, an hour drive away, this is certainly a big move for Knotted Root. But the unique eclectic vibe is maintained in the new space.
Knotted Root and Circular Beer Co Founder Chris Marchio is very proud of and excited to showcase the new location. “We like doing our own thing and providing an authentic experience” is how he describes the ethos of what he is striving for. The taproom/dive bar/lounge/pool hall has a little bit of a lot, but the theme all lends itself to having a good time in a unique environment.
Marchio meticulously collected pictures from the location’s history when it was regularly visited by celebrities, and the nostalgia continues to hit strongly with an incredible personally curated jukebox, arcade games, darts, pool tables, and even a (truly miniature) mini golf hole.
An interactive vibe permeates the entire space, and Marchio says that he took inspiration from Meow Wolf in that regard. A highlight is the jukebox that Marchio put together featuring a huge custom list of his favorite tunes and the requirement to use old fashioned coins to operate it. Don’t worry — there’s a change machine right next to it.
There will be multiple TVs playing old school movies on VHS. By the bathrooms, there are a myriad of mirrors allowing customers to take some wacky snaps. Vintage pictures are hung throughout the bar. Beyond the outdoor patio, the pool lounge is reminiscent of a Dazed and Confused scene — minus the smoke of course.
As this is ultimately a bar, there will of course be an emphasis on Knotted Root and Circular Beer. Ten taps will serve a variety of their beers. Knotted Root’s Hazy IPAs will feature prominently, and there will also be 2 dedicated taps for easy drinkers Home and Oh’kee from Circular. Goo, West Coast, and Saisons will round out the taplist. NA options will also be available. And don’t worry, families — The Circular Lounge will be kid and dog friendly during the days with its large patio. This space has something for everyone.
Marchio is looking to create a place where people can hang out for a long time, enjoying the relaxing atmosphere while sipping on some good beer. “The idea is create an oddly unique, interactive experience. To embrace the weird and pair that with stellar and even better people. It’s why our slogan is ‘Welcome Home’ because Home is a state of mind”.
