Savannah River Brewing Co. hosted Augusta, Georgia’s first beer dinner at a brewery – at least, since prohibition. Other beer dinners have been hosted in the area by other Georgia breweries, but this one was unique. Set apart from the others by its location, significance and success. Sold out to maximum seating, this event would be like no other event the brewery had put on, yet.
Savannah River Brewing Co. is very excited to be partnering with Chef Kyle McCloud of Mack’s Street Eats for the brewery’s first ever beer dinner. They will be opening their doors for guests to experience an exquisite five-course meal paired alongside their flagship beers and an exclusively brewed beer for the event. The “Fall Beer Dinner”, as they’ve optimistically named it, is set for November 8, 2017 from 6:30pm to 9:00pm.
Today is the day! No pressure though. The deadline to vote for your favorite Denver Startup is today at 10:00p MST. Paranoms is a fantastic application that will do wonders with the food truck industry by helping small businesses better communicate and partner up for the same cause – bring delicious products to quench eager customers.
The Woodlands Project opened early this year and has already amazed and bewildered our tastebuds with taproom exclusives and merely one bottle release, “Through the Brambles,”—until now. After much anticipation over what the project would yield next, and when, SweetWater Brewing Co. announced it is releasing “Belgian Rose” this weekend.

For most new to beer, and a sizable number of those well-versed in the various styles beer has to offer, trying an IPA is like sneaking a swig of your dad’s whiskey after everyone has gone to bed. It is an unpleasant rite of passage into the craft beer world that I, simply put, did not agree with. There was too much out there to enjoy without forcing myself to drink something I didn’t enjoy.

Tomorrow, Burial Beer Co. (Asheville, NC) will release Seasoned Skillet Donut Stout for the second consecutive year and A Paranormal Vibe Double IPA (DIPA) – the latest addition to their DIPA Earth Series. This comes as Asheville Beer Week announces last call for the week’s celebratory and beer-centric events.
Last month, The Unknown Brewing Co. announced Chris Wertman is stepping up and taking the helm from brewery owner Brad Shell as the brewery’s new head brewer. Wertman, a U.S. Navy veteran who served two tours in Iraq, is no stranger to leadership roles, demanding workloads and challenging jobs. Through sheer initiative, drive and discipline, Wertman has fast-tracked himself from keg washer to The Unknown Brewing Co.’s second head brewer in less than a year.
The 2nd Annual Beer and Bourbon Festival is deploying to Columbus, Georgia to benefit the National Ranger Association on this Thursday, April 6, 2017, from 1800L to 2200L. That is 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for you civilians. So, gear up, hydrate and move out for a fantastic event!
Second Life Brewing Co. has created a new program to help send off your loved ones in a very special way. Jon Draugr, founder and owner of Second Life Brewing Co. said, “We were sitting around having drinks after my great-aunt died about eight months ago and we got to talking about different funeral traditions. You know, Viking burials at sea, Egyptian mummies, spreading ashes at sea, and that is when it hit us, almost all at once. What if we brewed a beer specially made for the family? This wouldn’t be any beer though, no! This would be a beer brewed with the deceased’s ashes sprinkled in.”
The Georgia Craft Brewers Guild issued a statement yesterday saying that the 2017 General Assembly of Georgia will “consider legislation to allow consumers to purchase beer directly at the brewery that makes it”. This is exciting news for the one remaining state in America that still prohibits on-site purchase of beer at breweries. Little information was provided in the press release, but what was explained was good.
REJOICE! At long last, Creature Comforts Brewing Co. is making its move to expand into an additional facility in 2017 with the purpose of raising production (and possibly its footprint) in 2018. This news follows two years of steady growth as one of America’s fastest growing breweries and a zealous commitment to raise $100,000 for local community organizations. Creature Comfort’s future location of choice, the Southern Manufacturing Co. Mill, is no surprise to those who have followed the brewery over its short but influential career in Athens, Georgia.
Athens, Georgia – Creature Comforts Brewing Co. will launch their highly successful Get Comfortable campaign on November 16, 2016. The five month-long Get Comfortable campaign is led by the small brewery to help fight hunger, homelessness and poverty in our community of Athens, Georgia, where the poverty rate ranks fifth throughout the United States. This is a laborious and incredibly rewarding effort centered around one of the craft brewery’s founding core pillars – community – first organized back in 2014.
Only weeks ago, The Unknown Brewing Co. released Vehopciraptor, a triple IPA straight out of the Cretaceous Period. This is the third time the Charlotte, North Carolina based brewery has released Vehopciraptor into the wild, but the first time it has done so as a 90 IBU triple IPA. One of The Unknown Brewing Co.’s most popular beers, with good reason, it is so incredibly well-balanced, yet bold, that some of us wondered if its really even a triple IPA.
In another week, The Unknown Brewing Co. is shipping Bright Ass Tank Top to distributors. I can’t help but think this 4.1% ABV Key lime gose is an ode to the fleeting summer. In a preemptive response to the question of “what’s with the name?”, Andrea Glagow, marketing manager for The Unknown Brewing Co., wrote “… no reason. It’s the end of summer. Rock it until the end. Sun’s out, Gun’s out.”

Terrapin Beer Co. enjoys great music, great beer and their wonderful community. All this is apparent in the beer company’s latest addition to their year-round lineup, Sound Czech Pilsner.
Haunting the shelves again like a rerun of your favorite television show from your youth is Hi-C Ecto Cooler. That’s right, Slimer’s favorite refreshment is, yet again, within reach. It is no coincidence either that the citrus flavored juice drink is available to sneak into movie theaters for Ghostbusters.
Creature Comforts Brewing Co. came together with family and friends to celebrate the successes of this season’s Get Comfortable campaign. Creature Comforts generated over $65,000 in charitable contributions with the help of local community organizers, businesses and volunteers. Get Comfortable proved to be a groundbreaking corporate level charity campaign that broke down many barriers while building community relationships that touched many lives through its 2015/2016 season.
Kitten Snuggles is Unknown Brewing Company’s unofficial interpretation of what would happen if the internet brewed a beer. Inspired by cute and adorable kittens in a coffee shop in Portland, Oregon, this Farmhouse style ale is sure to appeal to even the most adamant dog lovers.
Another year is in the books for Terrapin Beer Co. as the brewery continues to play a large role in southeastern beer. This brewery has a lot to celebrate after a year of brewery/beer awards, expansions, continued high demand in their current areas and a new car! If there is any brewery in the southeast that knows how to throw a party, it is Terrapin Beer Co.
We are well into the festival season and you’re out there floundering around like a fish at a beer festival. Don’t worry, I am here to help. Okay, well, I am sure you’ve got a better handle on this whole festival thing than that. You may actually be more like a wolf at a sheep sheering contest. Wow, this digressed quickly… without further ado, we are leaving the beer behind in this week’s Ultimate 6er to give you six tips for your next festival!
