What We’re Drinking

What We’re Drinking | November 25th, 2016

November 25, 2016 |

Thanksgiving is a notoriously big drinking holiday. Whether you’re attending “Thanksgiving Eve” festivities at the local dive bar or trying to ignore the inappropriate rants of an older family member, beer can become a wonderful coping mechanism. The PorchDrinking staff is no different. Get a legal pad and prepare to take some notes. This is What We’re Drinking.

We at PorchDrinking are equally opportunity drinkers. We believe in all beers, because #beerlivesmatter. We believe that no one style should dominate an entire season. We welcome all styles into our hearts and mouths, year around!

Okay, okay, you get it. It’s basically Thanksgiving and we’re not obsessing over pumpkin spice ales… yet. Check out What We’re Drinking this week.

I could talk about it….you know. The Election. But I won’t. Some people are unhappy with the results and the road that lies ahead. Today isn’t about that, though. Today is Veteran’s Day and we want to honor those who have fought so hard for our freedom. Today we honor Mothers, Fathers, Sisters, Brothers, Friends. These are the people who matter! So raise a toast to someone you know who has given their all to keep our country great, always.

Raise your hand if your’e still in complete and utter awe over Wednesday night’s victorious outcome for the Chicago Cubs? Not all of us at PorchDrinking are die-hard Cubbies fans, but we can all agree that Game 7 was one of the most epic sporting events in history. And if you’re still feeling the effects of the severe lack of sleep from several late night games this week, you’re just as happy as we are that it’s the weekend. Here’s What We’re Drinking.

We’re now in the final throws of October. It’s getting dark earlier, and our beers are getting darker, too. All those dark, roasty malts will keep us warm in the cold months to come. Say goodbye to your lawnmower beer, and embrace the arrival of fall. Prepare to discover What We’re Drinking.

We may be well into the fall season, but over at PorchDrinking, we tend to drink what we want. Sure, we have our seasonal favorites, but we really enjoy drinking what we want, when we want it. So grab your favorite brew, sit back, and check out What We’re Drinking.

What We’re Drinking | October 14

For many Porchdrinkers, the second week of October has brought hardship and struggle (except for those jerks who were having a blast at GABF). The ingenious inventor of the #Bovapose evacuated her home before a Hurricane. Many struggled to keep their sanity during a bizarre presidential debate. I caught a cold. It’s now time to celebrate our collective coping mechanism and explore What We’re Drinking.

October is upon us, and that means a lot of different things. Fall seasonals are hitting the beer market, and “leafers” are flocking to New England to gawk at autumn foliage. For many in the Southeast, it means evacuating their homes in anticipation of a hurricane. This week in particular will also see a tsunami of brewers and beer enthusiasts slamming into Denver for GABF. To me, it mostly means jealousy because I’m stuck at home. It’s time for us to live vicariously through the Porchdrinking.com staff and find out What We’re Drinking!

What We’re Drinking | September 30th

September 30, 2016 |

After looking through this week’s submissions, I’ve only been able to draw two definitive conclusions. First, Southeast Region Editor Johnathan Pylant drank a lot of beer this week, and, second, he’s not great at the #BovaPose. I mean he’s really not great at it, but that’s enough about his shortcomings. The rest of the staff delivered some real gems. Pull on your 1930s-style bathing suit, don your swim cap, and get ready to dive in like Scrooge McDuck. This is What We’re Drinking.

Have you ever been on a trip out of state and done quite a bit of beer shopping? You know, you casually search out all the best places to find local craft beer to drink while you’re on your trip. But you end up not drinking any of it because you’re attending a wedding that has plenty o’ booze, so you decide you should probably attempt to pack all the beer into your checked luggage. There’s no way it could be over 50 lbs, right? But you find out that your luggage is over the weight limit and have to remove 12 lbs worth of crap from your checked luggage and shove it into your carry-ons. You don’t know what that’s like? Oh good, neither do I.

Here’s what we’re drinking this week.

September brings us another week in transition. Some Porchdrinkers are grasping on to the last days of summer and others are diving head-first into autumn. We even had one intrepid soul who not-so-successfully tried to emulate the Queen of Beer Selfies by replicating the #Bovapose (Trademark pending… probably). No matter what is in our glass, you can be certain that our writers are having a ton of malty, hoppy fun. Here’s What We’re Drinking. Read More

Did you wake up this morning, look at the calendar and wonder if it is actually Friday today? Luckily, you’re not alone. One of the many rewards of a Monday holiday is a shorter work week. Some PorchDrinkers traveled over the holiday weekend, some stayed home, and unfortunately some had to work. Despite these differences, we all had one thing in common this week: we enjoyed a delicious brew. Check out what we imbibed in this week’s edition of What We’re Drinking!

Guess who’s back, back again? The PorchDrinking team has rejoined forces to bring back our weekly What We’re Drinking series. As the evenings grow shorter, the temperature begins to drop and we all know that summer is quickly coming to an end. Because of this, we are drinking whatever the hell we want. We love our seasonal brews but let’s be completely honest here. We love #allthebeers. So cheers to another awesome week and hoping we can stretch a little more out of this summer. Read More

Confession: I’m a theatre nerd. I don’t really know a damn thing about sports. The only things that can get me excited for a game are other excited people and, well, beer. Depending on the sport… lots of beer. But even I realize how massive the last two weeks have been for sports — US Men’s Soccer is a game away from the finals, and the NBA finalists are headed to an unexpected game 7 this Sunday. So grab a cold six pack, call up your friend with the big screen, and sports hard. Sports real hard. *clink*
