The Brewtography Project’s Hotel Teatro Gallery Opening Showcases CO Craft Beer’s Best
September 27, 2017 | Tristan ChanI still remember the first time I met up with Dustin & Marcia Hall to enjoy a beer. I had only seen Dustin’s work on Instagram via his Brewtography Project account, but even through the illuminated lens of a iPhone 4 screen, I could see Dustin’s passion and eye for the craft.
Avery & Odell Effin’ Teamwork Stout Takes GABF Collaboration to the Next Level
September 26, 2017 | Tristan Chan 1To commemorate this year’s Great American Beer Festival, several breweries have already announced collaborative projects, however few tally as storied histories as Avery and Odell Brewing. Odell founded in 1989 and Avery, which launched in 1993, constitute two of the country’s earliest pioneers in the recent craft beer resurgence. Next week during craft beer’s largest stage, their mutual appreciation toward each other’s craft will manifest in the release of a collaboration beer unlike any other.
Event Recap | Telluride Blues & Brews Festival 2017
September 25, 2017 | Desiree DuzichTelluride sure knows how to throw a music festival, especially their Blues & Brews Fest. I personally think they should call it “Blues, Brews and Views” because the views all weekend were on point (insert awesome emoji here).

Avery Just Released Their GABF Cellar Sale List and Good God
September 22, 2017 | Tristan Chan 2In case you hadn’t heard, a few weeks ago Avery Brewing Company announced that it would be opening up its cellar to offload a substantial amount of beer they’d been holding on to for some time. The Boulder-based brewery who over the past 24 years grew a reputation for their line of massive, high ABV beers as well as their highly regarded foil top sour series, will now reintroduce a number of those one-off releases back into the wild. This cellar sale is scheduled to take place Friday, October 6 at 11am at Avery to coincide with the week of the Great American Beer Festival.
Bonfire Brewing | Pink-I Raspberry IPA
September 21, 2017 | Chea FranzAs autumn fast approaches, and we start seeking winter warmers and other beers that are heavier in body and spiced with fall in mind, it’s important to remember— it’s only September! Many breweries are releasing their fall seasonals, but with warmer temperatures still trending in Colorado, I’m looking for something fruity with a more substantive ABV. Luckily, Bonfire Brewing has just that—Pink-I Raspberry IPA.

2 Days, 2 Nights | A Complete Guide to Fort Collins, Colorado’s Craft Beer Scene
September 18, 2017 | Chea FranzSituated on the Cache La Poudre River and about 65 miles north of Denver lies Fort Collins, home of the CSU Rams and where craft beer flows in abundance. Two years ago, I moved to Fort Collins from Denver and I was a bit apprehensive; Denver was home to me. There was always something to do — whether it was a Rockies game, art opening or new brewery to check out. And admittedly, as a proud Colorado Buffalo (#Skobuffs), Fort Collins felt a little like enemy territory.
But like one of those teachable Hallmark movie moments, Fort Collins proved me wrong. This college town is the fourth largest city in Colorado but it has plenty of local charm. Fort Collins is laid back like a lackadaisical Sunday afternoon. It’ll make you want to hop on your cruiser bike and ride over to the nearest brewery and watch the sun sink down across the foothills. Fort Collins has made me a tourist in my own state — which is really refreshing. And so, I present to you, the best spots to visit the next time you’re in Fort Collins — in my humble opinion, of course.

Cellar West Artisan Ales | Sapience
September 15, 2017 | Kelsey Verdier 2I know, I know. We’re post-Labor Day, school has started and the pumpkin ales and warm toasty porters are hitting the shelves. But as I sit here in my kitchen with the windows thrown wide, trying to tempt the air to somehow drop below 80, I just can’t bring myself to go there yet.
Event Preview | Telluride Blues & Brews Festival 2017

September 13, 2017 | Cory PelcThe Denver Beer Beat sheds light on news of brewery openings, special tappings, firkins and one-off batches, bottle releases, dinners, pairings, etc.
It’s me, Cory Pellicle, on top of all things beer (see what I did there?) for this week here in the Denver area. I’m filling in for Jeremy while he is out on vacay. He is probably skulling coldies right now and hiking hills and doing all kinds of other ill shit. Well deserved, Jeremy, well deserved.
But don’t worry! Jeremy will be back next week and we will be continuing to flesh out the 2017 GABF calendar. We just put up a shipload of events. Go peep ’em out, beer nerds. And keep coming back for more GABF coverage on the site!

Insider’s Guide to Special Beer Releases During GABF
September 12, 2017 | Tristan ChanAs we’ve all come to know, the Great American Beer Festival has far greater implications for Colorado beer fans that extend beyond the four day festival itself. One of those external benefits is the growing practice of out-of-state breweries utilizing the week to make a special limited drop of beers either as a means to test the market or just to make a splash to help grow their brands. In previous years, breweries such as Fremont, Perennial, and Burial have all used GABF week as a launch pad toward regular, or in some cases semi-regular distribution to Colorado. In other scenarios such as last year’s short-lived Bell’s Brewing drop, these brief market flirtations can help stoke the hype for breweries that may eye a longer term distribution expansion in the future.

Amalgam Brewing Primed to Become Colorado’s Next Elite Sour & Wild Producer
September 8, 2017 | Tristan ChanColorado’s next elite level sour / wild beer producer doesn’t have a physical taproom, nor does it actually have its own production facility, in fact it hasn’t actually released its first beer to the public… at least not yet. Despite its unconventional start, Amalgam Brewing, which has been quietly taking root for the past three years, will officially launch this weekend with the release of Ascension, a golden sour ale aged in a combination of neutral oak and chardonnay barrels.

Fortunately for craft beer lovers, beer pairing dinners are becoming more commonplace in restaurants. Here in Colorado, some of the household names in craft beer are starting to branch out and begin the trend of beer pairing meals.
