Revolution Brewing Announces 2018-19 Deep Wood Series

While the calendar might say August, the 2018-19 Revolution Brewing Deep Wood Series announcement shows us that barrel-aged season is just around the corner.
After an incredibly successful 2017-18 release which produced some of the best barrel-aged beers released from any Chicagoland brewery, Revolution is going big this year with a release of ten different beers.

Colorado’s craft beer scene embraces many different philanthropies, including the conservation community. It’s not surprising as they have many things in common. After all, the environmental sector and beer industry are both dependent on water, a vital—and increasingly scarce—resource in the drought-stricken west.
This past Saturday, conservationists, brewers and beer lovers gathered at Goldspot Brewing Company, located in the Berkeley neighborhood of Denver, and sampled a beer made with all-Colorado ingredients created in honor of Conservation Colorado’s annual Save the Ales Beer Festival.

For nearly seven years, Carton Brewing Company has exemplified life in New Jersey and the team has kept its focus on local, for-the-moment beers. The brewery opened on August 11, 2011 in Atlantic Highlands and it became the state’s 13th brewery. Owned by Augie Carton (who was previously an underwear salesman, among other professions) and his cousin Chris, the brewery is located where the owners were born and raised.

Drake’s Brewing Co. was founded back in 1989 by Roger Lind in what was half of an old Chrysler Dodge factory powerhouse in San Leandro, CA. Back then, the brewery was named after Lind, Lind Brewing Company, and he brewed English-style ales. Lind built the original gravity-fed brewing system himself (10 barrels) but he left the brewery in 1998. Drake’s was owned by JBR Coffee Company from 1998-2008 and then John Martin, who Lind used to previously work for at Triple Rock Brewery, purchased Drake’s in 2008.

After a year hiatus, New Belgium’s Tour de Fat has been revived and refreshed for a return to Denver, CO. Creature Comforts Brewing Co. makes great beer; they also make great beer with a purpose. Their recent initiative, Get Artistic Tart Wheat beer, is a fitting testament to this two-pronged approach. Announced earlier this summer, the Get Artistic beer is part of a larger campaign aimed at finding “creative ways to add value the local arts community” in Athens, Georgia. The kicker: 100% of the profits from the beer and its corresponding flashy merchandise will go towards funding the dreams, endeavors, and passions of local artists. Sounds like a win-win to me. Here’s my review.
