I hear that there is some kind of beer festival in Denver this week, but I don’t want to discuss those things. OK, I do want to discuss those things, but I won’t because I’m jealous and spiteful. Somebody had to stay home and mind the store, so it may as well be me. Due to the grudge I’m choosing to hold, there will be no further mention of that festival. For everyone else who is stuck at home, here is The Weekly Buzz.
Today is the first day of fall, although you wouldn’t know it. It’s supposed to be in the 80s again in Pennsylvania. Ridiculous. Oktoberfest beers are releasing, and I’m stuck here wondering how exactly I’m supposed to enjoy a ridiculously oversized Märzen in that kind of heat? I guess I will just have to suck it up and muddle through. Finish off those summer seasonals that you’ve been hoarding and get ready for The Weekly Buzz!
We have one devastating hurricane behind us and another on the way. This September is turning out to be brutal for a lot of people. Lots of breweries have been pitching in to help, and that is truly amazing. We’ll take a look at this – and lots of other stuff – right here in this edition of The Weekly Buzz!
Did any of you know that parents of a kindergartner must endure no less than four events at the school? Four. That is all before school starts. There are meet-and-greets with teachers, self-guided tours and practice school bus rides. The real kicker is that none of these events serves beer. I’m running for PTA to undo this travesty. In the meantime, here are a bunch of beer things that I found on Twitter and Instagram. This is The Weekly Buzz.
It’s been another long, hot week. Not only that, but it was a busy week in the world of craft beer. GABF tickets went on sale, we celebrated National IPA Day and one of this country’s oldest craft breweries was bought by Sapporo. As the weekend creeps towards us, we all need to sit back, take a deep breath and enjoy a delicious beer. While you do that, feel free to peruse this week’s edition of The Weekly Buzz.
I just finished a seven-day, 73-hour work week. This was a completely unexpected turn of events, and I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to complete The Weekly Buzz. Fear not, dear readers! Sacrifices were made, the proverbial candle was burned at both ends, and I managed to cut and paste some tweets for your enjoyment. You’re welcome! I’m going brewery hopping for the next 24 hours. Don’t you dare try to stop me!
It’s a federal holiday, an extra day off from work and, above all else, a celebration of independence. The Fourth of July is a celebration of our nation’s independence but, this week, we also found ourselves in a discussion about the independence of craft beer. In this edition of The Weekly Buzz, we’ll explore life, liberty (from Big Beer) and the pursuit of happiness. There’s no better way to pursue happiness than by enjoying a fresh, American-made craft beer, so I suggest you drink one while reading!
The more time I spend on Twitter, the more I think I need therapy. Luckily, I got to hide in the relative safety of my beer feed. There aren’t any political posts in there. Wait… What’s that? No… no, please don’t! I’ll do anything. Just don’t retweet that… I’ll be in the corner in the fetal position, and this is The Weekly Buzz.
Ugh. I just realized that I have to mow my lawn today. It is out of control. On the bright side, I get to enjoy a lawnmower beer (or 5). I suggest that you do not follow in my footsteps. Yard work is bull crap. Instead, you should sit on your porch, crack open a fresh beer and hope someone else mows it for you. You can even read this week’s edition of The Weekly Buzz. Reading tweets about beer is WAY more fun than pushing a lawnmower. If you follow this advice, you’ll be much happier (until your municipality fines you for the length of your grass).
It’s been another grueling week, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. That light, of course, is the glowing neon of your local watering hole. Just as your favorite bartender is ready to listen to your woes, The Weekly Buzz is hear to brighten your day. So, kick that weird guy off of your favorite stool, belly up to the bar, and enjoy this week’s latest craft beer buzz. Oh… and don’t forget to drink a delicious beer. That’s an important part of the process.
There’s been lots going on in the world of craft beer this week! Some breweries had snow days and some are shutting down for a bit longer. There are also a few new beers and tons of shenanigans. Buckle up and get ready for a bumpy ride because this is The Weekly Buzz!
I didn’t have President’s Day off from work, but I hope that all of you had a free day to taste new beers. Being on a diet means that my beer tastings are limited, so I’m counting on all of you to tweet your experiences at me. I’m serious! Living vicariously through PorchDrinking.com’s readers is all I have (until the weekend)! Please?! Anyone?! I’m itching for a beer over here! Anyway… here’s The Weekly Buzz…
Valentine’s Day fell this week, and I have reaffirmed my love for beer. It is the sun to my moon and the surf to my turf. I mean my kids and lady are great, too, but have you tried beer? They should write a romantic comedy about me and beer. It would be a smash hit. Any Hollywood producers want to get that green-lit for me? Well, anyway, I was on Twitter this week, and this is The Weekly Buzz.
The Atlanta Beer Beat sheds light on news of brewery openings, special tappings, firkins and one-off batches, bottle releases, dinners, pairings and more!
How hard is it to assemble a top-notch recap of the week’s social media activity with three kids in the house? It’s very hard, but I NAILED it! This week we have a few events, some new beer, a few political statements and plenty of fun stuff, too. A buffet of beer news and shenanigans is laid out before you, and that can only mean one thing. This is The Weekly Buzz.
The NFL conference championships have been decided, and the Pro Bowl is this weekend. Does anyone watch the Pro Bowl? Anyone? Since none of you watch it, this will be a great weekend to head out and discover some new craft beers. When you find them, definitely mail them to me. I want all of them. The Weekly Buzz is ready to point you in all the right directions!
There’s a little pre-Super Bowl bonus content at the bottom, so make sure you read to the end!
Things are finally getting back to normal after the holidays. There are no more family gatherings to attend, and I’m no longer in denial about how fat I’ve gotten. Beer news on social media is quickly ramping back up as everyone returns to work. We’ve got events, new beers, returning old beers, job announcements, events, and shenanigans. It’s like I have a purpose again! Settle in and prepare to live vicariously through my Weekly Buzz.
The first week of the year has been chock full of new beer and event announcements. Hopefully, this is a sign that 2017 will be a great year for craft beer. I’ve already started marking release dates on my calendar and making room in my refrigerator. Forget 2016. That was a garbage year. We’ve got to focus our positive energy on the next 359 days! Pull out your yoga mat, get into Downward-facing Dog, and get ready for The Weekly Buzz.
It’s almost Christmas, but I won’t give you a cheesy Christmas message. I’ll give you something real. This is a sentiment that we can all relate to in this stressful holiday season. Oh… and I’ll give you The Weekly Buzz, too.
Am I the only one who hasn’t started Christmas shopping yet? Usually, I’m done by now. I have a feeling that my Amazon Prime subscription is going to get a serious workout this year. If you’re in the same boat as me, you’ll need a break from the rigors of online shopping. Grab a fine craft beer, open a new tab in your web browser and dive into this week’s edition of The Weekly Buzz.
