The Weekly Buzz | January 5 – 11

January 12, 2018 |

This week was rough. The frigid weather broke in Pennsylvania and brought 40-degree weather to Pennsylvania. The reprieve, however, revealed a frozen, burst hot water pipe, which became a massive leak as it thawed. I mostly tell you this because I want your pity. feed on it. Also, I don’t want you to notice that The Weekly Buzz is embarrassingly light this week. Shit happens. We’ll all move past it and do better next week.

The Weekly Buzz | December 29 – January 4

January 5, 2018 |

Well, it’s officially 2018. I don’t feel much different than I did last year. I already go to the gym on a regular basis, so I don’t have a pesky weight loss resolution to deal with (although I do have plenty left to lose). The world is still a terrifying hellscape, and we’re all used to that by now. We still have craft beer, so that’s a mark in the “Win” column. Craft beer also loves creating internet nonsense for us all to read, and we’ve collected some fun ones this week. Welcome to The Weekly Buzz!

Craft Beer’s Next Step from Session: The Table Beer

October 23, 2017 | 2

One of my fondest family moments was the first time I got to sit at the adults’ table at Thanksgiving. The seating shift represented a changing of the guard, a signal that I was growing up, and a possible glance at some alcohol. Little did I know, back in Medieval times, the kids table had their own, special, alcoholic drink: The Table Beer. This was an extremely low ABV beer known for its malty and sweet flavors. Now, the Table Beer is having a bit of a renaissance as it makes its way to the adult table and into the favor of craft brewers across the nation.

Ultimate 6er | Comfort Beers

October 11, 2017 |

It’s time we all took a seat and enjoyed a comfort beer, don’t you think? We are in the midst of a year dominated by natural disasters, shootings, political turmoil, fake news, nuclear war fears, a cold-war resurgence and societal fractures. But, there’s something about sinking into one’s favorite chair and opening a beer that calms the nerves. Here are six uncomplicated, security-blanket beers that help bring joy even as we are enduring unfathomable tension.

The Weekly Buzz | September 29 – October 5

October 6, 2017 |

I hear that there is some kind of beer festival in Denver this week, but I don’t want to discuss those things. OK, I do want to discuss those things, but I won’t because I’m jealous and spiteful. Somebody had to stay home and mind the store, so it may as well be me. Due to the grudge I’m choosing to hold, there will be no further mention of that festival. For everyone else who is stuck at home, here is The Weekly Buzz.

The Weekly Buzz | September 15 – 21

September 22, 2017 |

Today is the first day of fall, although you wouldn’t know it. It’s supposed to be in the 80s again in Pennsylvania. Ridiculous. Oktoberfest beers are releasing, and I’m stuck here wondering how exactly I’m supposed to enjoy a ridiculously oversized Märzen in that kind of heat? I guess I will just have to suck it up and muddle through. Finish off those summer seasonals that you’ve been hoarding and get ready for The Weekly Buzz!

The Weekly Buzz | August 18 – 24

August 25, 2017 |

Did any of you know that parents of a kindergartner must endure no less than four events at the school? Four. That is all before school starts. There are meet-and-greets with teachers, self-guided tours and practice school bus rides. The real kicker is that none of these events serves beer. I’m running for PTA to undo this travesty. In the meantime, here are a bunch of beer things that I found on Twitter and Instagram. This is The Weekly Buzz.

As the weekend creeps towards us, we all need to sit back, take a deep breath and enjoy a delicious beer. While you do that, feel free to peruse this week’s edition of The Weekly Buzz.

I just finished a seven-day, 73-hour work week. This was a completely unexpected turn of events, and I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to complete The Weekly Buzz. Fear not, dear readers! Sacrifices  were made, the proverbial candle was burned at both ends, and I managed to cut and paste some tweets for your enjoyment. You’re welcome! I’m going brewery hopping for the next 24 hours. July 7, 2017 |

It’s a federal holiday, an extra day off from work and, above all else, a celebration of independence. The Fourth of July is a celebration of our nation’s independence but, this week, we also found ourselves in a discussion about the independence of craft beer. In this edition of The Weekly Buzz, we’ll explore life, liberty (from Big Beer) and the pursuit of happiness. There’s no better way to pursue happiness than by enjoying a fresh, American-made craft beer, so I suggest you drink one while reading!

The more time I spend on Twitter, the more I think I need therapy. Luckily, I got to hide in the relative safety of my beer feed. There aren’t any political posts in there. Wait… What’s that? No… no, please don’t! I’ll do anything. Just don’t retweet that… I’ll be in the corner in the fetal position, and this is The Weekly Buzz.

The Weekly Buzz | April 21 – 27

April 28, 2017 |

Ugh. I just realized that I have to mow my lawn today. It is out of control. On the bright side, I get to enjoy a lawnmower beer (or 5). I suggest that you do not follow in my footsteps. Yard work is bull crap. Instead, you should sit on your porch, crack open a fresh beer and hope someone else mows it for you. You can even read this week’s edition of The Weekly Buzz. Reading tweets about beer is WAY more fun than pushing a lawnmower. If you follow this advice, you’ll be much happier (until your municipality fines you for the length of your grass).

I didn’t have President’s Day off from work, but I hope that all of you had a free day to taste new beers. Being on a diet means that my beer tastings are limited, so I’m counting on all of you to tweet your experiences at me. I’m serious! Valentine’s Day fell this week, and I have reaffirmed my love for beer. It is the sun to my moon and the surf to my turf. I mean my kids and lady are great, too, but have you tried beer? They should write a romantic comedy about me and beer. It would be a smash hit. Any Hollywood producers want to get that green-lit for me?  Well, anyway, I was on Twitter this week, and this is The Weekly Buzz.
