Kokopelli Beer Company | Hop Slugger IPA

May 24, 2016 |

ABV: 6.8% | IBU: 70

Baseball and beer — two of America’s favorite pastimes, amirite?

Rick and Christine, head brewer and owner of Kokopelli Beer Company, respectively, started brewing Hop Slugger way back in their home brewing days — when the idea of opening a brewery was just that: an idea. However, they’ve continued to brew this same recipe over the years because it’s always been such a hit with their friends, family, and now customers. The Hop Slugger IPA has won two gold medals at state-wide competitions… it’s easy to see why this beer is such a home run.

Event Recap | Sun Drenched Music Fest

May 23, 2016 |

If there’s one thing us Colorado residents are used to, it’s a weather forecast that changes quickly. So despite the abundance of clouds on Saturday, the crowds came out in force to dance to bluegrass and celebrate with Denver Beer Co. at their Sun Drenched Music Fest.

DBC transformed the parking lot of their Sunnyside canning facility into a summer oasis. There were half a dozen food trucks parking around the perimeter, a sand volleyball court, local businesses selling hats and sunglasses and a few strategically placed hammocks for sitting back and enjoying the day. Ultimate 6er | Denver’s Top Beer

May 4, 2016 |

Denver is a city of world class breweries. You can literally close your eyes, spin around, start walking in any particular direction, and you’ll find amazing beer. I’m talking world class, triple-A examples of every style imaginable. But what if we were to narrow down everything that we have to offer into a format that we all understand? A six pack perhaps? The rules are simple: the beers can’t be distributed out of state, have to be available at least once per year, and packaging isn’t a requirement. Yes, I have taken on the unreasonably lofty task of narrowing down the top in the state to six total beers. Clearly you can’t go wrong with Denver beers, but these in my opinion, are some of the beers that are most representative of Denver’s top tier craft beer scene. Be gentle. Read More

Event Preview | Odell Resurrects Small Batch Festival

April 14, 2016 |

Odell Brewing Company last hosted Small Batch Festival in 2012, and while the event was an amazing success, the brewery has been quite busy in the years since — They expanded their footprint (Iowa and Texas,) updated their seasonal lineup (Brombeere here, Double Pilsner gone,) released a handful of new bombers (such as Brazzle and Pina Agria,) created a seasonal variety pack (Montage,) and completed brewery construction. Having accomplished so much the past few years, Odell is ready to bring back the Small Batch Festival and hopes to make it an annual event. Adam D’Antonio from Odell said “production comes first and festivals second. We didn’t want to bring Small Batch back until we were ready and could do it right.” Read More
