On Saturday, January 22, the Winter Brew Fest at Mile High Station kicked off the new year with a bang as the first official beer festival of the year in Denver. Attendees enjoyed over 100 beers, hard kombuchas, hard seltzers, and spirits to sample over day and evening sessions.

This gooey, sticky and satisfying beer will hit you right in right in the nostalgia olfactory with its balanced flavors and pompadour nose.

This year’s Winter Brew Fest is shaping up to be a memorable occasion to kick start the new year with new beer.

It can be hard to stand out amidst the endless number of breweries in Colorado. Ursula Brewery in Aurora may not be on your beer radar, but it should be. They have been working since 2016 to perfect their brews. They boast a dog-friendly taproom and give back to the community through events like clothing drives. In the taproom, you will find a variety of beers, but one that deserves extra attention is the Xocolatl Mexican Hot Chocolate Imperial Stout.

The Craft Brewers Conference returns to Denver September 9-12 at the Colorado Convention Center. Whether you’re lucky enough to attend the event this year or not, there are still plenty of new beer releases and events centered around CBC that will be taking place. So while you’re out this weekend, grab a pint or two at some of your favorite breweries, and take home some limited releases at the same time.

Over Yonder Brewing Co. in Golden, CO recently celebrated their first and second anniversary this year. The brewery had one big, mega-bash to make up for lost time over the lockdown in 2020. As a brewery that feeds off music and crowd energy almost as much as they do creating new beers, it’s been an exciting 2021.
Part of their efforts to welcome back music includes live streaming Phish shows on the big screen with Paige McConnell banging away on the D6 clavinet during some of the slinkier Phish grooves (e.g. Sand, Moma Dance, etc.). This is where Over Yonder came up with the name of their fan (and brewer) favorite beer, D6 IPA.

Nestled in Northwest Fort Collins, CO stands an innocuous wooden building with a lush garden encompassing it, and a quaint wooden sign that reads “Stodgy Brewing Co.” Since their original opening in September of 2020, they have gained a respectable following in their local community, despite opening in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. What was their secret to success during a time when so many other breweries were closing? One visit was all it took for us to see: Stodgy Brewing provides a home-away-from-home feeling that is downright comforting.

Peak View Brewing in Greenwood Village, Colorado, was founded just two years ago, but the ideas of this brewery have a longer history. The founders, Sean Peters and Justen Coulfal, not only share a history of military service, but also a love of craft beer. Their shared dream of opening a brewery has been realized with a large variety of beers on tap to offer to their customers. They have also collaborated with other local businesses to expand their offerings. After creating one award winning beer with Branch & Barrel Distillery, Peak View Brewing was excited to collaborate again. “Their vision for complex and innovative whiskey matches our vision creating experimental and unique flavored brews,” explains Peters.

Left Hand Brewing Opens New Outdoor Venue

Left Hand Brewing Co., a bastion of independent craft beer, threw a weekend-long party on Aug. 14-15, 2021 to celebrate the opening of their new outdoor venue, The Garden. The Longmont, CO-based brewery, a top 50 U.S. craft brewery well known for its Nitro series, constructed an inviting, 41,000 square foot open-air event space right next to their taproom. The dog-friendly space is anchored by a custom-made ROXBOX bar with six draft lines and plenty of fridge space for a variety of canned beverages.

It’s been almost two months since the grand opening of Jade Mountain Brewing Co. and business couldn’t be better. Brewing craft beer, tea and in-between (i.e. hard tea), Sean Guerrero, the owner and head brewer, has a beverage suited for anyone who walks through the door. He uses exotic (dragonfruit, sichuan chili, jasmine flowers) and modern (Colorado yeast and malt) ingredients brewed to taste, with less focus on adhering to a specific beer style, resulting in beer inviting to all customers regardless of beer knowledge or snobbery. Add to this the beautifully curated traditional Asian tea house aesthetic of the taproom, and it’s clear that Guerrero meticulously planned every step of his business venture to create a unique, delicious, and welcoming establishment where traditional meets modern.
