Across the world, over 300 million people, not far off the population of the U.S., celebrate the spring vernal equinox festival of Navroz, also known as Nowruz, Novruz, Nowrouz, Nooruz, Navruz, Nauroz or Nevruz, all of which mean “new day” and signify the first day of spring. The festival is embraced in multiple countries across South and Central Asia and the Middle East, with roots that trace back over 3,000 years to the Zoroastrian religion in ancient Persia, and is usually celebrated on or around March 21st.

Join West Metro Fire Fighters and WestFax Brewing Co. at the WestFax taproom in Lakewood, CO on Saturday, February 24 from noon-8 PM for a double beer release and fundraising event benefitting The Colorado Professional Firefighter Foundation and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. $2 will be donated for each pint or 4-pack of Hook & Halligan sold.

Sweaters are being stripped off, sleeves are being rolled up, and hats are perched on heads as the sparkling winter sun permeates Mesa, AZ’s Riverview Park. Copper State Beer Festival is in full swing, and the weather is offering up its desert best for the 5,000 visitors the event has attracted. This is the third year the festival has taken place, drawing beer lovers from across Arizona and further afield to one of Phoenix’s hippest suburbs for an afternoon of imbibement. As Arizona’s craft beer scene blooms like a cactus flower, consumers are catching on, creating space for this frankly huge event featuring 72 breweries, plus a range of cideries, wineries, meaderies, distilleries, seltzer makers, bars and bottle shops. While the focus is firmly on beer, this is an event with something for everyone and an opportunity for local businesses to showcase their offerings alongside high-profile national names. There’s even a skating rink and axe throwing, which beats the heck out of the usual spin-the-wheel attractions beer festivals offer (FYI there was also spin-the-wheel).

One of the best festivals of the winter season has officially been announced, and we can’t wait! Wynkoop Brewing Company is bringing back its most popular beer festival, Day of Darks. This February, come to the ultimate celebration of Colorado’s vibrant craft beer culture at Day of Darks, where the season’s best local dark beers will be poured. Day of Darks is a winter tradition, showcasing the season’s best local dark beers. Keep an eye out for tickets as they become available!
Weathered Souls | 2023 Whale Rider Set

Weathered Souls Brewing has been around since 2016, and since then has made waves throughout the industry. Most notably in 2020, co-owner and Head Brewer Marcus Baskerville started the Black is Beautiful initiative, a movement with the mission to bring awareness to the injustices that many people of color face daily. This open-ended collaboration has inspired the support of hundreds of breweries across the country, and this year even saw the launch of Volume 2.0 of the Black is Beautiful initiative in honor of the opening of the National Black Brewers Association (NB2A) back in May. Marcus and Weathered Souls also had another exciting ‘first’ in 2023 with their highly sought-after Whale Rider Imperial Stout. July 29th marked the date of the inaugural Whale Rider Day.

Held just outside the center of Flagstaff at the Arizona Historical Society’s Pioneer Museum for the first time this year, the festival feels like a secret garden party.

It’s been three years since Drake’s Brewing Co. has been able to throw their summer classic with Bike East Bay. But Session Fest is finally back for its eighth year, this Saturday. With no beer over 5% being poured, it is meant to be an easy going afternoon where you get to sample the lower-end ABVs that breweries have to offer. Beer fests are back (knock on wood)! After two years of cancellations, postponements, limited capacity events, and worse… the dreaded virtual fest, we are entering 2022 cautiously optimistic about the year ahead. With hopes of herd immunity coming sooner rather than later, we’ve got our fingers crossed that beer festivals are all returning to normal soon.
While most beer festivals are still taking extra precautions for this year’s events, several of them have already begun announcing dates. To help you keep track of the best and brightest beer festivals to mark on your calendars, we’ll be continuously updating our list of the best can’t miss beer festivals for 2022.
