Over the last few years there has been a shift happening in the Georgia market that prioritizes location expansion rather than production or building expansion due to Georgia’s limiting distribution laws. Atlanta’s own Fire Maker Brewing Company is the newest brewery to follow suit as news of expansion spread throughout the state. Read More

Round Trip Brewing | Smokin’ Translator Doppelbock

September 19, 2022 |

In Atlanta’s trendy Upper West Side neighborhood, there are eight craft breweries within a square mile. With that level of market saturation, it can be difficult to stand out. Round Trip Brewing has been carving out a place for itself by offering a wide variety of exceptional craft brews. At a time when many craft breweries are just offering 10 variations of IPAs in their taprooms, Round Trip has made sure that they have something for everyone.

Event Review | Little Beer II

April 15, 2022 |

What happens when you take some of the best in-and-out of state lager makers and bring them all to one town green in Duluth? A really damn good time enjoying Little Beer.

Over the weekend, Duluth’s Good Word & Public House hosted their second annual “Little Beer” fest, which saw 60+ breweries bring their best low ABV (mostly ~5% and lower) beers to the tables for craft drinkers to enjoy all day long. Oh, and there was snow — which for Georgia in April what the hell was that?! Read More

Elsewhere Brewing | Save the Sacks Helles Lager

April 13, 2022 |

There are plenty of blurred lines when marketing in the craft beer industry, but when it’s tastefully done a beer can really stand out in the crowd. Atlanta’s own Elsewhere Brewing once again nailed that feat with the new release in their “Beer For a Cause” series. The new release in the series, Save the Sacks Helles Lager, takes testicular cancer to heart and in an obvious way. Save the Sacks was released on the first of April, which is testicular cancer awareness month, and it’s no joke. Read More

2021 Georgia Best in Beer Year-End Honors

January 13, 2022 |

Even though 2021 seemed to pass by at an outrageous pace—two years of a pandemic will do that—there were several memorable beers, new breweries and stories that came out of Georgia. 2021 saw Lagers catch a ton of love across the state, finally. There were still plenty of other styles and releases that garnered tons of trades and attention, but shoutout to Lagers for stealing the spotlight. Seltzers, distilleries and everything in between are starting to populate and associate with craft breweries from Atlanta to LaGrange and north to south. Read More

Fantasy Football Recap | Week 12

December 3, 2021 |

Week 12 of the NFL season was once again highlighted by several huge performances from running backs across the league. Leonard Fournette won the day by carrying the ball 17 times for 100 yards while adding 31 yards through the air on seven catches. Oh, and he had a cool four TDs on top of the yardage for a 40+ point week. The Atlanta Falcons do-it-all back Cordarrelle Patterson rushed 16 times for 108 and a pair of scores. Dontrell Hilliard for the Derrick Henry-less Titans had 131 on only a dozen carries with a score, too. Mixon, Taylor (again) and Elijah Mitchell all had days that probably led your team to a W, or to an L if they lined up against you. Either way, that’s how it goes sometimes. Read More

Arches Brewing | Black Gold Schwarzbier

October 21, 2021 |

Isn’t this the absolute best time of the year? Trees are starting to lose leaves and become shaded in every color. Football, the ever-approaching holidays and cool breezes are ahead in the next few weeks. Now is the chance to enjoy it all.

But, the best part of autumn is easily the beer releases. Yes, there will be an abundance of pantry-ravished Pastry Stouts, and for good reason. However, those are not the only beers to hoard or enjoy this time of year.

Rightside Brewing | Citrus Wheat & American IPA

September 15, 2021 |

The world of craft beverages seems to expand every day as more and more producers pump out products ranging from pre-mixed cocktails to Seltzers.

There is likely one area of the industry, though, that you have probably skimmed over when it comes to shopping coolers or shelves at your local bottle shop. No, don’t think about the newest candy-inspired Sour Ale or adjunct-loaded Barrel-Aged Stout. You should be thinking about your next non-alcoholic beer purchase. Read More

What We’re Drinking | July 23, 2021

July 23, 2021 |

Holy hell. It’s really about to be August. We have one week of “summer” left, even though I personally feel like that shortens every year. We’re over halfway through the calendar and baseball season, too. School is upon us and fall sports are about to be king. It won’t take long, but the holidays are not too far off, and this year, we should be able to celebrate even more compared to last. I hope you’ve got a little time to slow down and take it easy, but if you’re still busy looking for a new beer to try, here is What We’re Drinking.  Read More

RockSolid Brewing Co. | Ambrosia Fruited Gose

July 14, 2021 |

Ambrosia, the drink of the gods! At least that’s what we know according to Greek mythology. Ambrosia was the drink of choice given to the gods because it was thought to give them immortality upon consumption of this fine liquid. Bryan Crass, the head brewer for RockSolid Brewing Company located in historic Ball Ground, GA said, “we think this beer is absolutely divine, worthy of the gods yet available to you!”

Jekyll Brewing | Southern Juice IPA

June 9, 2021 |

Citra! Citra! Read All About It!

CITRA, CITRA, CITRA is the response we received from Jekyll Brewing Founder Michael Lundmark when asked about the hop profile for Southern Juice, which is one of their year-round core beers. Southern Juice is a lighter IPA that was inspired by the New England IPA style. Lundmark described it as a “Really juicy beer and very New England like without the Haze factor” Lundmark also noted that “while Southern Juice was inspired by the New England style, it’s not a NEIPA, it’s Southern Juice!”

Event Recap | Good Word Brewing Presents “Little Beer”

June 8, 2021 |

For any of you veteran craft beer drinkers out there, what comes to mind when you hear the phrase “beer fest” mentioned in conversation? Memories of overindulgence fueled by Biolyte and the FOMO of the out-of-state breweries who are pouring their beer? Maybe it’s racing around the room to all the hype tables before your palate is overwhelmingly wrecked. There’s also a good chance that you’ve been in line slamming an IPA taster before hitting the next tap in the row…We’ve all been there.

On Saturday, June 5, Good Word Brewing & Public House hosted a festival in collaboration with the City of Duluth that was one of the first beer-centric events to happen in Georgia since COVID-19 effectively shut down large gatherings a year ago. This was not a typical beer fest, though. Read More

Pint Glass History | Athentic Brewing Co. Horton House Pilsner

May 3, 2021 |

The American craft beer industry is still a relatively young movement — it started in the 1970s. The youth of our industry really shows when compared to the longevity of beer globally. Sure, the craft beer industry turns 70 this year, but prohibition is still in recent memory. Early pioneers of our craft moved mountains and steam-forged a path that led to Boston having its very own Lager and spectacular views from the coast of Maine. Read More
