Beer & Book Club | #GIRLBOSS
May 2, 2017 | Constance Del RioWelcome to the third installment of the Beer & Book Club series! I love the idea that each month a new individual can highlight a great read and a delicious brew to go along with it. When one pictures the craft beer world a few common themes repeat: beards, barrel-aged and hops (lots of hops). That is why for my first Beer & Book report I wanted to highlight some serious girl power. Read More
Dry Dock Brewing Co. | Dry Dock IPA
April 26, 2017 | Dan OldsABV: 7% | IBU: 60
What better way to symbolize the greatness of craft beer than relating it to one of history’s greatest children’s book authors? Recently I picked up a six-pack of Dry Dock Brewing Co.’s newest beer Dry Dock IPA. My attention was immediately drawn to a quote on the top of each can. I had been reading Dr. Seuss to my 4-year old son so, naturally, I connected the two. Read More
Lone Pint Brewery | Yellow Rose IPA
April 21, 2017 | Pam CatoeABV: 6.8% | IBU: 62
I literally spent the afternoon driving around town and following Twitter to find a Lone Pint Yellow Rose on the shelf for this piece because I think it is one of the most perfect beers brewed in Texas. Named after a popular Texas heroine, Yellow Rose is always in short supply due to the overwhelming popularity of this Single Malt and Single Hop (SMaSH) IPA beauty.

Most breweries I’ve visited keep some sort of “Idea List” hanging around for different beer ideas and flavor combinations. Sometimes these lists are left exclusively to the employees of the brewery and sometimes they welcome ideas from their customers. In this particular instance, Chris Hill, the founder of Odyssey Beerwerks spent some vacation time in the British Virgin Islands drinking almost exclusively passion fruit – which leads us to our profile of a particular selection on their idea list.
Terrapin Beer Co. | Cumulus Lupulus Imperial IPA
April 12, 2017 | Dan BortzABV: 8.1% | IBU: 101
Sometimes, after working night shift, a beer really hits the spot. Society might not approve of the fact that I’m drinking beer at 7:30 in the morning, but I really don’t care what they think. This morning, my wind-down beverage was a Cumulus Lupulus Imperial IPA from Terrapin Beer Company. I almost forgot that I had put it in the fridge a few days ago, but that beautiful blue can and its floating clouds caught my eye.

In honor of National Beer Day this past April 7th, I wanted to create a special Cooking with Beer recipe full of flavor, spice, and of course, beer.

Scofflaw Brewing Co. | Basement IPA
April 11, 2017 | Mark ElliotHanging out in the basement has its own special connotation. They don’t usually say things about “your parent’s basement” in any positive manner. It could be the basement that freaked you out as a kid that you still have nightmares about OR it could be a basement man cave, perfect for beer geeks.
In many ways a combination of all three, Scofflaw Brewing got its start on a one-barrel system in the basement of the founder’s mother-in-law of all places. And out of that adventure came Basement IPA, which is quite honestly perfect to drink in any basement or building, field, plot or porch for that matter.
Jersey Girl Brewing | Rake Breaker IPA
April 7, 2017 | Kristina KurdylaABV: 6.5%
Ah, Jersey Girl. There are many connotations associated with this phrase, beer most likely not making the top three. But you better get yourself acquainted with the name, because Jersey Girl Brewing has been pumping out some amazing brews lately with Rake Breaker leading the charge. Citrus and tropical fruit are showcased prominently on the nose. Additionally, when you catch that first whiff, you can’t help but smile and look forward to the moment that crisp and fresh, juicy, yet slightly sweet beer hits your taste buds rounding out with a bitter and dry finish.
