Midnight Mauraders Coffee Stout Release @ Novel Strand Brewing

Novel Strand and Queen City Coffee have been sharing space for nearly 6 months now, and they’re finally collaborating on a little all-day party where beer is available early and coffee is available late. They’ll have a food truck on-site, all the pastries and croissants, all the charcuterie and cheese, aaaaaaaand….
They’re tapping their first start-to-finish in-house collaboration, MIDNIGHT MAURADERS.
This Imperial Stout was brewed with 8 different kinds of malt, mashed for 2 hours, and boiled for 2.5 hours to produce a rich, smooth, velvety base brimming with flavors of dark fruit and chocolate, with a delicate, subdued roastiness. This base was fermented by a select yeast strain to produce 8.2% ABV with very little ‘heat’. They then conditioned the beer on a custom blend of natural coffee from Ethiopia, composed of these two varieties:
– Kossa Geshe, Ethiopia — Traceable to the Kossa Geshe farm in the Jimma zone of Limu, Ethiopia. Heirloom varietals are sun-dried on raised beds for 12 to 14 days to create the complex sweetness and bright tropical fruit profile — strawberries, tropical fruits and toasted marshmallow
– Kossa Rada, Ethiopia — Farmed and processed by Reshad Jemal in Kossa Rada, a small town in the Limu region of Ethiopia. Reshad cultivates indigenous, heirloom varietals, with this particular lot being dry-processed on raised beds. Subtle berry notes with sweet citrus in the cup — strawberries & lemon toffee
