Ultimate 6er | Six Crushable Low Calorie Beers

Summer is coming to a close; however, the heat is sticking around for a little while longer. Nothing pairs better with a hot summer day than a cool body of water and a refreshing craft beer. Summer also means swimsuit season is in full effect, so we’ve compiled a list of the six best low-calorie craft beers to keep you refreshed without affecting your summer waistline.

This Belgian-style Wit comes in at around 155 calories, and yet is still packed with flavor. Wheat and raw oats give it a crisp and refreshing taste with a pale in color and a creamy white head. The Belgian yeast adds to the flavor with a perfect blend of spices, resulting in a smooth creamy mouthfeel and a dry finish. ABV: 4.8%

Described as an Agua Fresca Cerveza, this beer is a surprising burst of flavors. Brewed in partnership with Primus Cerveceria out of Mexico City, the beer pays homage to the classic agua fresca and features hibiscus, agave and watermelon. However, these flavors come together in a way that doesn’t make it overwhelmingly sweet with just enough hops to balance out the fruity flavors. With a slightly pink hue and minimal head, it also comes in at just 110 calories, making it the perfect poolside beverage. ABV: 4%

Mexican Logger | Ska Brewing

Ska’s original session beer, Mexican Logger only has 155 calories and is brewed with a lager yeast strain from Mexico City. This multi-award winning beer is only available during the hot summer months and pairs perfectly with typical summertime fare. Brewed with SAAZ hops, it’s a crisp, clean, and refreshing beer for hot afternoons. ABV: 5.2%

Little Boss | Blue Owl Brewing Co.

You have to travel to Texas to get a hold of this one; however, it comes in at only 120 calories, so it’s worth the trip. Brewed to quench your thirst on hot summer days, this is a great beer for folks that are new to sours. “Little Boss is the crushable summer favorite of the Blue Owl team! I love it with brunch, or midday by a pool, or even out on the patio when the evening starts to cool down. Little Boss, big fun,”explains head brewer Meike Rossman. ABV: 3.8%

Metamodern | Oasis Texas Brewing Co.

Another Texas brew, Metamodern is a session IPA, but where some sessions lack flavor, this one is packed with Citra and Mosaic hops brewed with a special technique called “hop-bursting,” which refers to adding a large amount of hops at the end of the boil. Pilsner and Munich malts rounded out with a house English Ale makes this a low calorie, yet hoppy beer. ABV: 4.5%

Monk Lite | Thirsty Monk

This final selection isn’t available as a packaged option; however, it comes in at an impressive 97 calories and 3 grams of carbs per serving. You’ll have to travel to Ashville, Portland or Denver to find this one on tap, which sounds like a perfect vacation to round out your summer. Brewed with four different hops, a large dry hopping of Callista keeps this beer from being bland and lifeless. ABV: 4.5%
