In Episode 53 of the “Boys Are From Märzen” podcast, Kindsey Bernhard is joined by Sara Killeen, owner and editor-in-chief of the Montana Craft Beer Connection.

Montana Craft Beer Connection is a quarterly publication focused on the art, science and economics of making and drinking beer in Montana. Killeen started the magazine in 2019  after she saw a need to help connect people to the breweries in Montana. With 91 breweries across the large state of Montana, she quickly noticed how many people were unaware of how many breweries were open in their own state.

Montana Craft Beer Connection goes beyond brewery and beer stories, the magazine also highlights the thriving malt and hop industries in Montana. Each magazine includes both a malt and hop column from local farmers and maltsters in Montana.

Since Montana Craft Beer Connection’s launch in 2019, the magazine has added more pages, readers and advertisers. Despite its success, Killeen plans to only ever publish a physical print magazine.

In this episode, Kindsey and Sara discuss Montana beer, how she went from teaching high school math to starting the publication and all things Montana Craft Beer Connection.
