Roundtable Discussion | May the 4th Be With You

May the 4th Be With You
Lindsay Krumel

This week’s Roundtable topic comes straight from the founder himself! In honor of May the 4th Be With You, aka Star Wars Day, we asked our staff for their favorite Star Wars characters, moments and memories. I’m not a huge sci-fi fan, but who doesn’t love those little Ewoks? And I’m thoroughly excited to see what space oddities our themed potluck brings to my office on Monday!

Cory Pelc

Wookies, ewoks, banthas, tauntauns…I have affinity for all things Star Wars. It’s really hard to answer this question. In fact, I think, “It’s a trap!”

Christopher Day

My favorite character is this guy on the right:

Josh Ritenour

Don’t forget the little guys…

Jess Baker

When I was 5, I was a big Luke Skywalker fan. Then my “bad boys with a heart of gold” phase hit, and I’ve been team Han ever since.

Desiree Duzich

Favorite Memory of Star Wars: Playing Princess Leia on the jungle gym with my elementary school daycare friends. Everyone had a character, and I’m still thankful to my childhood friend, Garret (aka Luke Skywalker/Han Solo), for play-rescuing me over and over again. haha 😉 good times!

Philip Joyce

I’m with Cory. I think my favorite characters were the ones who spoke in grunts and squeaks. Ewoks, wookies, banthas, tauntauns. To this day I refer to scary desert plants that I’m unfamiliar with as sarlac plants. And who could forget about the droids!!! Without them the rebel alliance surely would have been doomed!.

Scott Hoffman

I’m not a Star Wars fan, but I guess Chewbacca? I remember annoying people as a kid/adult and making that noise.

Cory Pelc

Yeah, the Sarlacc is going to eat Scott now for not being a fan. Oooh, I almost forgot about the Wampa and the Rancor. Two of my favorite “creatures” from Star Wars.

Scott Hoffman

I love sci-fi, but Star Wars/Star Trek never did anything for me. Chewbacca is cool with me, though.

Drew Troller

Han’s off-the-cuff remarks are the BEST.

Imperial officer: “Who are you? What’s your operating number?”

Han: “Uh….” [Han shoots intercom] “….boring conversation anyway.”

ALSO…

Han: “Afraid I was gonna leave without giving you a goodbye kiss?”
Leia: “I’d rather kiss a Wookie.”
Han: “That can be arranged!” [storms off, yells over his shoulder] “He could USE a good kiss!!!”

Drew Troller

I made my mom dress as Darth Vader for Halloween one year so that I could be Luke. Took me years to realize Han was the real cool one.

Laura Mego

I love you. I know.

I’m just gonna leave this here….http://www.reddit.com/…/mark_hamills_personal_photos…/

Laura… His kids are living every kid’s dream

Danny King

Anything an Ewok did is my favorite, and the scene where one Ewok tries to awaken his/her dead Ewok friend is the saddest footage in cinema.

Also was having a discussion with friends about who’s supposed to say “I love you” first and when to say it. One person admitted to being Han Solo’d by an ex and we all cringed in pain. I thank this movie for giving us such a cultural touchstone.
