Bruz Belgian Import Festival

Bruz Belgian Import Festival
Scott Grossman

This coming Saturday, June 7, Denver’s Bruz Beers has the rare honor of hosting Bruz Belgian Import Festival. This one-of-a-kind event brings delicious and unique beers straight from Belgium to Bruz’s 67th Avenue beer garden.

Unmatched Beer Selection

Lucky festival-goers will enjoy a taplist with a depth far beyond what they can normally experience. “This is probably the best representation of Belgian beers that Colorado has ever seen,” says Bruz CEO Ryan Evans. Many of these beers are not otherwise available in the United States.

This event is a true distinction for Bruz; the brewery was specifically selected by Belgian breweries looking for a worthy location to showcase their beers in the United States. These include some of Belgium’s most notable breweries such as Orval, Rochefort, Rodenbach, and St. Bernardus. A number of the brewers and owners will also be on hand to discuss their creations.

With all the high-ABV brews on tap, the Bruz Belgian Import Festival will naturally have several food trucks to help Belgian beer fans stay upright. Additionally, the brewery will have live music by Boot Gun. The festival will go on rain or shine in the original Bruz location’s beer garden.

Belgian Brewers Recognize Bruz

While it seems like a natural fit, the festival didn’t land in Denver by accident. When a group of Belgian breweries was looking to raise the profile of their products in the U.S., distributors suggested Bruz based on its strong reputation and commitment to quality Belgian-style beers. The breweries agreed.

Bruz CEO Ryan Evans credits the brewery’s deep and long-standing Belgian connections with landing this treasure trove of Belgian brews. Each year, experts from Bruz lead craft beer lovers through Belgium’s premier breweries for tours and tastings.

Impressions created during these tours made Bruz the top-of-mind venue to bring these standout beers to the U.S. “We’ve built these great relationships and great rapport, and our name kept coming up,” explains Evans. “This event is nine years in the making and a dream come true.”

Planning Pays Off

While it’s taken a lot of work and has been years in the making, all the effort is worth it for Evans. “To me, it is an absolute honor. These are brewers I’ve idolized since I fell in love with Belgian beer.” He’s particularly looking forward to the Trappist pours and includes St. Feuillien Tripel and Liefmans Dark Strong as a couple of his must-try beers.

Unfortunately for procrastinators, the Bruz Belgian Import Festival has already sold out. However, beer lovers can still look forward to Bruz’s annual Belgian Brew Fest, coming October 4. Tickets will be available mid-July, and it is also expected to sell out.
