The pop-up tap room experience will take place at Vance’s Cabin, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., overlooking the Holy Cross Wilderness. The Cabin, near Tennessee Pass, is located in the Red Cliff area of the Colorado Rockies, about 10 miles north of the town of Leadville, and about four miles north of Ski Cooper ski area.
Welcome back to the delicious world of beer and food. America is known in the beer world as having the biggest, boldest and strongest flavors, and Alewise wanted to celebrate that by ending this month’s meal with a pairing featuring a big Imperial Stout from Firestone Walker, the Parabola.
I stumbled across Backcountry Brewery when I was at Great American Beer Festival (GABF) a few weeks back. Their range of annual and seasonal beers combined has won six gold, silver and bronze medals at GABF from 1998-2011. But, what really put Backcountry on the map? In 2011, they submitted six beers for competition at the Colorado State Fair and all six received medals. Pretty impressive, if you ask me.
The 1996-year-old brewery and restaurant is located in Summit County on Main Street. If you’re like me and on your way to a ski resort out west, you are easily passing this place without knowing it.
