Being a native of North-Eastern Ohio, the Christmas season is an exciting time for me. Possibly one of the only things Cleveland is recognized positively for nation-wide is our Great Lakes Christmas Ale. While this is one of my favorite beers, I would like to take some time to appreciate a delicious ale brought to us by our neighbors in Akron, Ohio.

Thirsty Dog Brewing Company, located in Akron, offers a wide variety of different, yet all delicious tasting ales. However, my favorite has got to be their seasonal 12 Dogs of Christmas Ale. Weighing in at 8.3% ABV, a few of these beers will definitely give you a strong buzz. Anyways, to the most important part! The taste! This ale pours at a nice golden-orange tint with a nice white-head and lacing. The flavor seems to have a great combination of spices including; cinnamon and nutmeg. These spices are paired nicely with flavors of caramel and honey. For as strong as the beer is, the taste is light and not too carbonated making it go down smooth. So this Christmas season, don’t overlook this delicious ale!
