Flat 12 Bierworks – Walkabout APA
Pinewood Social isn’t really a place you go to drink beer. In fact, ordering beer there always feels like a little bit of a cop-out, like I don’t understand what the restaurant does, or at least what the restaurant does best: cocktails. But, guys, sometimes I just want a beer. And I want an APA or an IPA or some combination of a PA with an IPAEDLFSOIWEUR. You know, sometimes you just want a beer?
Pinewood is Nashville’s newest hangout—boasting sexy bowling lanes, breakfast, lunch & dinner, a coffee shop and workspace, private karaoke, and craft cocktails. And beer. They have some beer.
So, in my beery mood, I went for the Flat 12 Walkabout APA, which is a potent APA and not for the faint of heart. It’s got Galaxy hops from Australia (which likely explains the name, considering Flat 12 Bierworks is in Indianapolis.
Having two of these beers will probably stuff you to the brim—which is fine, because I am a RESPONSIBLE ADULT, PEOPLE! It’s got that hoppy finish but just oozes with all kinds of wonderful aromas, most of which I can’t identify, but what the brewery describes as “passion fruit.”
Passion Fruit is not usually something I’m thinking about while I’m drinking beer (ugh, I’m probs never really thinking about passion fruit), but I am thinking about how good this beer followed my meal of fried chicken & mac & cheese. It also singlehandedly stood as my dessert, which leads me to believe it is a versatile beer with a wonderful flexibility. BOOM.
