Colorado Breweries Win Big at 2025 World Beer Cup Awards

River North World Beer Cup

It was another impressive showing for the Centennial State at the 2025 World Beer Cup competition, as many Colorado breweries once again earned top marks. Often referred to as the Olympics of Beer Competitions, the World Beer Cup features breweries from across the world vying for medals.

This year’s competition featured 8375 entries from 1761 breweries and cideries across 49 countries entered into 112 beer categories, 5 cider categories, and Colorado’s contingent showed out in a MAJOR way, taking home 21 medals from 16 breweries, including 8 gold medals.

River North Brewery was the crown jewel of this year’s competition, notching three medals, which was the most earned by a single brewery in Colorado. Their wins include a pair of silver medals, including Pumpkin Spiced J. Marie Saison in the Pumpkin Beer category and Squirrels Just Want to Have Fun in the Coffee Beer category, as well as a bronze for Midnight Hike in the Chocolate Beer category. But even more impressive is that this year’s three medals continue to build on an impressive streak of recent accolades, including World Beer Cup wins the last two years, and earning two medals in 2023 AND 2024 at GABF.

Speaking of impressive streaks, Westbound & Down continued to build on their unbelievable run of accolades with a pair of medals tonight. This now marks back-to-back World Beer Cup competitions with medals and three years in a row of winning multiple medals at GABF, as well as a MASSIVE showing at the inaugural Colorado Brewers’ Cup competition. AND it was pointed out that Verboten Brewing, which also earned a pair of medals at this year’s competition, has now won medals at four consecutive World Beer Cup competitions.

Verboten Brewing & Blue Moon Brewery (which has since closed its Colorado location) also earned multiple medals at this year’s competition.
