What is the greatest holiday movie? Is it A Christmas Story or National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation? Perhaps Red Rock Brewery’s Griswald’s Holiday Ale can help sort out this yuletide debate.

What’s your favorite holiday movie? Likely a question that will cause a great deal of debate amongst the PorchDrinking community. Are you a purest? Do you prefer movies reflecting on simpler time such as A Miracle on 34th Street and It’s a Wonderful Life? These films give us a glimpse into the innocence of the season, culminating into the inspiring ‘true meaning’ message. It is possible you would prefer the anti-hero approach displayed in understated classics such as Bad Santa, The Ref, A Christmas Carol and of course A Nightmare Before Christmas. These films display an ill-intentioned lead who ultimately allows the kindness deep within to bleed through. Maybe there are several of you who lean towards the more comedic side of the snow-covered hills. This includes greats like Elf, Home Alone, and The Santa Clause. For our money, you really can only go one of two ways. The wonderful news for you, both draw qualities from all of the previous mentioned movies and wraps them up into one heck of a white elephant gift! A Christmas Story or National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation?

It’s a difficult decision for sure. It’s hard to fault a young boy’s quest for the ‘Red Ryder BB Gun’, which is an all time classic. However, we are telling you the best is always going to be Clark W Griswald and family! National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation draws from all of the greatest holiday films, Clark plays both the every man and no man. He balances between triumph and folly building hope from every misfortune. His story makes you feel like you are one of the family. So, please grab your Marty Moose glass and pour yourself some Red Rock Brewery’s Griswald’s Holiday Ale.

Just one look at the Griswald’s Holiday Ale’s fantastic label and you instantly know where the inspiration for this beer originates. Urging you to ‘celebrate big’, this ale is brewed with cinnamon, coriander, ginger, orange peel and cloves. Embracing all things good about the holidays, Griswald’s positions itself as an anti-pumpkin beer as it pours blissfully into the glass with a clean orange tint. Scent of cinnamon warms to a musky clove follows the fast receding head. Skillfully incorporating all of the adjunct flavors, Red Rock Brewery excels allowing each to have a starring role. This seasonal favorite finishes with lingering citrus and cinnamon begging you for the next reunion.

Red Rock Brewery released a sessionable version of the beer this year. Allowing more people to join in on the fun!

Clark: ‘Can I refill your eggnog for you? Get you something to eat? Drive you to the middle of nowhere and leave you for dead?’

Eddie: ‘Naw, I’m doing just fine, Clark.’
