What We’re Drinking | April 17, 2020

What We're Drinking
Justin Pennel

Most people in the country are a month or more into social distancing and stay at home orders, and have completely lost track of time and social norms. Is it acceptable to have a coffee stout at breakfast? Or a beer at lunch when working from home? I think we all know the answers to these questions, but as cabin fever and the groundhog day effect sets in, people start venturing into the unknown to save their sanity and prevent complete boredom. Good luck to everyone out there—stay safe, stay healthy and support your local breweries! This is What We’re Drinking.

Consent | Little Fish Brewing

April is #sexualassaultawarenessmonth. Ohio’s Little Fish Brewing recently brewed a beer in collaboration with the Southeast Ohio chapter of Survivors Advocacy Outreach Program, a non-profit group that supports survivors of assault. The beer is called Consent. It’s a sour brown ale brewed with Earl Grey tea and rose petals, and I had the pleasure of writing about the beer and the collaboration for Porchdrinking (link in bio). Reader, this beer is beautiful. Aromas of spiced cherry pie, brown sugar, honeyed bread crust, peach pit, and the tart, dark flesh around it, and just the lightest rumor of florals. The body is dry and a bit tannic, with just enough acidity, with cedar and more of that peach pit and pit flesh flavor. You feel the tea more than taste it. A gorgeous beer and a wonderful cause. #littlefish #littlefishbrewing #littlefishbrewingcompany #ohiobeer #ohiocraftbeer #drinkohiobeer #drinkbeermadehere #drinkbeermadehereohio #sourbeer #sourbeers #sourale #sourales #teabeer #consent #beerwriter #beerwriting #beerjournalist #beerjournalism

Branch & Bone’s IPAs are the bee’s knees, y’all. This hazy double IPA hopped with Strata, Samba, Sabro, & Lotus leads off with caramel creme candies and coconut wrapped in creamy, overripe mango and papaya before finishing with firm but supple bitterness and an old-school touch dank pine and orange pith. #sambahops #lotushops #sabrahops #stratahops #branchandbone #branchandboneales #branchandboneartisanales #hazyipa #hazecraze #doubleindiapaleale #dipa #doubleipa #neipa #newenglandipa #beerphotography #beertography #ohiobeer #ohiocraftbeer #drinkohiobeer #drinkbeermadehere #drinkbeermadehereohio #daytonbrewery #937beer #daytoninspires #inspiredbydayton #daytonohio #daytonoh #dayton
