Molly’s Spirits Shares Six Fall Beers to Buy this Labor Day Weekend
While nothing is exactly traditional these days, beer drinkers can typically count on Labor Day as the perfect time to shift from crisp Pilsners, session IPAs, and fruited Kettle Sours to maltier offerings like Oktoberfests, Porters, and yes, even Pumpkin beers.
To help us prepare for this seasonal shift, we spoke with Grant, the beer buyer at Molly’s Spirits, located at 5809 W 44th Ave, Denver, CO 80212 (Lakeside), and 8557 E Arapahoe Rd Unit A in Greenwood Village, CO, to share some of their recommendations for people to stock up for the three day holiday.
All of the following beers are available for purchase at Molly’s Spirits and be sure to order online to get beer delivered to your door.
Prost Brewing | Märzen
A traditional Oktoberfest style beer on the lighter side this amber beer finishes with a light malty
taste. 5.8% ABV.
Ska Brewing | Oktoberfest
This Oktoberfest style beer from Durango, CO comes out as a dark amber color. Slightly higher
in ABF than usual, this Oktoberfest features a nice caramel aroma on the nose, that is matched with a nice malty finish. 6.1% ABV.
4 Noses Brewing | Oktoberfest
The 4 Noses entry into the Oktoberfest lineup comes out medium amber with a light caramel
sweetness on the nose. While somewhat lighter on the body, this Märzen style beer still packs great
flavor and finishes smooth. 6.1% ABV.
Odyssey Beerwerks | Fluffy Pumpkin Porter
The only Porter on the list, this pumpkin beer comes out dark brown with a distinct marshmallow
and slight chocolate aroma. The Porter style provides a great base for a marshmallow beginning
and a nice pumpkin finish. 6.3% ABV.
Anderson Valley Brewing. | Fall Hornin’ Pumpkin
This Pumpkin Ale comes from Northern California and brings a distinct pumpkin aroma right off
the bat. The pumpkin flavor pairs well with a blend of spice including cinnamon and nutmeg.
Two Roads Brewing | Roadsmary’s Baby
Two Roads out of Stratford, CT puts an interesting spin on their pumpkin ale by aging it in
rum barrels. Coming out of the glass dark amber with a nice hint of rum on the nose the malty
backbone blends well with the pumpkin base with a slight rum finish. Barrel aging gives this
beer a slightly stronger punch. 6.8% ABV.
