#Bourbon County Stout Archives – PorchDrinking.com
Early November is a confusing time of year. The weather is unpredictable leaving you perpetually under/overdressed. Thanks to daylight savings, it’s probably dark when you leave the office. Then there are elections to worry about. When somebody offers a clear win like drinking 13%+ ABV beers on a Thursday night, you just say yes.
For many beer enthusiasts, the release of Goose Island’s Bourbon County Brand Stout (BCBS) is akin to Christmas morning. The 2016 variants are beginning to leak through several sources, but according to Megan Lagesse, Communications Director at The High End beer division of Anheuser Busch (and whose office is situated at Goose Island), rumors of the BCBS release — regarding the exact variants — are untrue. She explained, “We have to submit many labels to the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) prior to releasing the beer. We have to do that well in advance, but that doesn’t mean those are the actual, final versions. So, about those rumors. They are just not true.”
Big beer news was announced this week: the Bourbon County Brand Stout line up was released along with changes to the packaging. On top of that, craft beer growth is still on the rise and Yuengling is partnering with an unlikely company. Since I know you’re dying to know more, read on to get all of the details to these craft beer news stories and more in this edition of the Weekly Growler Fill.
The geese have landed in Denver and the PorchDrinkers are rejoicing. Why? Migration Week a.k.a. the week of Goose Island Beer Co. festivities in Denver has just begun and we couldn’t be any happier. Is it because we got to try a 2009 Bourbon County Stout? I’d say that’s a large part of it. But it’s not only the beer we are excited about, Goose Island has also come to town with a giant plinko game, photo booth, cooking classes, and more. Is it a coincidence that they happened to fly in during the week of PorchDrinking.com’s anniversary? I think not! The beer gods are blessing us Porch Drinkers with some great creations such as Sofie, Matilda, and Coffee BCS – and we will continue to worship them in the form of drinking all the beer that comes our way. Cheers to Goose Island and cheers to Migration Week!
