Odell Brewing Co. Five Points Brewhouse | Meanderin’ Orange IPA

March 25, 2022 |

It is not groundbreaking to say that Odell Brewing Company produces a wide variety of solid beers. That same Fort Collins tradition extended into the Five Points neighborhood in Denver in 2018. The 10-barrel brewhouse spans two floors, with 16 taps providing patrons with exclusive beers from Five Points and Odell standards from its Fort Collins brewery. While there are seven IPAs on tap in the Five Points brewhouse, its Meanderin’ Orange IPA is an outlier we recommend you try.

What We’re Cooking | IPA Green Curry

November 5, 2020 |

As the temps drop, comfort foods take center stage. Editor Meghan Howes submitted this week’s recipe. Her spin on Thai curry will have you salivating!

Meghan grew up with parents who “curried” everything, especially leftover proteins like lamb, chicken and beef. Her father loved to mix his own curry powders, many of them in the Madras tradition. As Meghan got older, and discovered Thai food (her greatest weakness), Meghan’s world opened to a whole new world of curry, and Thai curries were some of the best. Her favorite, by far, is green curry. Read More

Event Recap | Odell Small Batch Fest Delivers Big

June 3, 2019 |

I blame it on my brain. It was a gorgeous, sunny day in Fort Collins, Colorado, as I headed into Odell Brewing Co.’s Small Batch Fest on the brewery’s spacious campus May 25. The 15+ bike racks that quickly filled up should have been one clue; the list of more than 40 beers that were being poured should have been another. Yet, as I handed over my ticket and received my globe tasting glass (no shot glasses here) and tokens, part of me was still expecting a “small” festival.

Nope. Small Batch is not small festival. The party was in full swing by 1:30 p.m. with live music alternating on two stages and six different locations pouring Odell’s stellar brews. From year-round favorites like 90 Shilling and Easy Street to limited releases like the Hammer Chain (a fresh grind Double IPA to pilot beers and even retired brews like the Green Coyote, a tomatillo sour ale, it was a festival for the senses. The hardest part? Deciding where to start.

5 Questions With… Odell Brewing Co.’s Agronomist, Scott Dorsch

February 19, 2019 |

How do you stand out in the ultra-competitive IPA market? Maybe you go the hazy route; maybe you go with something double or triple-hopped, or maybe you just make a damn good single-hop IPA. That’s the inspiration behind Odell Brewing Company’s Wolf Picker IPA series, which shines a light on a new hop in each iteration.

The 2019 Wolf Picker features the new Oregon-grown Strata hop and is the first of the series to debut in cans. Sourcing unique hops that stand out amongst the competition is a tough job, but it’s one that Odell’s agronomist Scott Dorsch relishes. A typical agronomist role requires the person to be an expert in the science of soil management and crop production, but it takes on a bit of a new meaning when you work at a craft brewery. We asked Dorsch five questions about his career in agronomy, why he chose Strata for the latest Wolf Picker and what excites him about the hop marketplace in 2019.
