A quick Google search of the word robust and you will see adjectives like strong, vigorous and rich used to describe the word. With their seasonal release of Mr. Robusto, Conshohocken Brewing Company found a name that accurately advertises this robust porter.

Conshohocken, pronounced kon-sho-hok-en, is a borough that sits along the Schuylkill River outside the city of Philadelphia. With the scenery of the river, there’s a trail that runs along the banks of the Schuylkill River for running and cycling enthusiast to enjoy the landscape. Take the right route down the paved path and you’ll find a crowd of patrons enjoy pints of beer out on the deck of the Conshohocken Brewing Company taproom.

Brewing beers of many different styles, one of Conshohocken’s seasonal releases, Mr. Robusto porter, is a beer made for the malt lovers.

Once the can is cracked, Mr. Robusto pours a dark tan color and is topped with a foamy head. The aromas that radiate off the beer come through as notes of dark chocolate and roasted coffee from the malts.

After appreciating the sweet and roasted smell, it’s time to take a sip of this robust porter. Right away, there’s a light, bubbly carbonation that settles and gives way to a silky smooth mouthfeel.

Rich chocolate and dark-roasted coffee flavors balance a sweet and bitter profile. There are light, spicy bread notes thanks to the use of rye malts brewed in this beer. The finish of Mr. Robusto adds an earthy element to the drinking experience, inviting sip after sip with this extremely palatable porter.

After a nice stroll down the Schuylkill River Trail, a stop a Conshohocken Brewing Company for a glass of Mr. Robusto hits the spot!
