Kendrick’s Ale @  Strange Craft Beer Company (Denver) – 1330 Zuni St Unit M, Denver, Colorado

Date/ Time: Friday, November 15, from 12:00- 9:00 p.m.

Details: On Friday, November 15, Strange Craft Beer Company will release Kendrick’s Ale – Remember a Hero to honor Kendrick Castillo, the high school senior killed in the Highlands Ranch STEM school shooting.

Kendrick’s father, John Castillo, and Strange Craft Founder Tim Myers have been friends since 1998 and homebrewed together regularly, along with Gary Lueck, Todd Howes, Ernest Bermudez and others, until Tim opened Strange Brewing Company in 2010. Many of the recipes brewed in the early 2000s have found their way into the Strange beer rotation over the years. The group of friends would gather on Saturdays and share their latest creations while brewing new beers to sample in the coming weeks. On many of those brew days, Tim’s son Casey would play with Kendrick while their dad’s brewed. Remembering those times together brings joy but also sorrow.

With this recipe, the homebrew friends want to celebrate an amazing life and cherish precious memories.  Kendrick’s Ale is a bittersweet Hefeweizen recipe brewed with bitter orange peel and honey. It brings a sweet hint of honey to the palette followed by the slight hint of bitter orange. The finish is all fresh squeezed oranges with a lingering memory of banana and clove.

Kendrick’s Ale will tap at noon of Friday and will be available in pints in the taproom and crowlers to go. We will also hold a candlelight vigil at 4 PM in the Biergarten. Strange will donate a portion of proceeds from Kendrick’s Ale to the Highlands Ranch STEM School Varsity Robotics Team, Kendrick’s favorite club in high school. Going forward, we will brew Kendrick’s Ale annually for release on May 7th to help keep and amazing hero’s memory alive.

𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙗 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 Horus Aged Ales
13.3% 𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙡 𝘼𝙜𝙚𝙙 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙑𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙖
In our first go-round in the Olympic Village with the supreme athletes at Horus Aged Ales, we brewed Peace Be the Journey, an unaged Imperial Coffee Stout with Jamaican Coffee…but like the Jamaican Bobsled team, that sleigh’s potential was greatly underestimated. The damn thing was out the gate and down the track before we had time to say ein, zwei, drei! We took that same base beer and tucked it into a fresh crop of 9-year-old Tennessee Whisky barrels for 19 months then conditioned it on 1.5lbs of Ugandan vanilla beans per barrel. Yes, PER barrel. Notes of dark chocolate truffles, Italian espresso, creamy Tiramisu and that number 12 turn, ja?
$25/500 mL bottle, limit 1 PP

𝗖𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘁 𝗦𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗚𝗼𝗱
𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙗 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 Horus Aged Ales
13.1% 𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙡 𝘼𝙜𝙚𝙙 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝘾𝙤𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙪𝙩
We took that same base beer and tucked it into a fresh crop of 9-year-old Tennessee Whisky barrels for 19 months before adding 25lbs of toasted coconut to each oak barrel (Yeah, we’re still talking each individual barrel here, folks). Notes of treacle molasses tart, almond joy, marzipan and butt-whippin’ time!
$25/500 mL bottle, limit 1 PP

𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱
10.2% 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙊𝙖𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙪𝙩
Imperial Oatmeal Stout conditioned on Belize cacao nibs from Cultura Craft Chocolate, along with cassia bark and coconut.
We know new things can be scary.
We’ll be smooth
We’ll be soft
We’ll be sweet
We can have a Safe Word…but I don’t think we’ll need it.
$22/2-Pack 16oz Cans, limit (1) 2pk PP

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆
5.5% 𝙂𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝙎𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙗 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 Casa Agria Specialty Ales
We may be individual organisms, different species even, but somewhere way back there in the annals of natural history, Cerebral Brewing and Casa Agria have a common ancestor to thank for the traits we carry forward. So, don’t stress about those T’s, C’s, A’s, and G’s. Natural selection has done the leg work for you. Over a year ago, those unique specimens from Oxnard, CA come out and helped us brew a Golden Sour base that went directly into Oak barrels with both of our house cultures, over 500 lbs of Colorado Apricots (Prunus armeniaca) and 300 lbs of California nectarines (Prunus persica nectarina). Notes of peach gummy rings, white sangria, bright, brisk acidity and Punnett squares.
$14/500mL bottle, limit 1 PP

𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗹 𝟰𝟰
7.3% 𝙊𝙖𝙠-𝘼𝙜𝙚𝙙 𝙎𝙖𝙞𝙨𝙤𝙣
Going into our off-site barrel storage spot feels like that scene at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark. The infamous box is wheeled into a vast warehouse among canyons of similar crates, hinting at unknown wonders waiting to be discovered. And each time we pull a single barrel to serve in the taproom, it feels equally magical. Each expression is a culmination of what that barrel has to offer. Time, wood, fermentation…the alchemy of barrel aging. This saison base was aged 7 months in a Chardonnay barrel on a blend of yeast and bacteria that contribute both wild and acidic characteristics and conditioned on second use vanilla. It was then dry-hopped with Sabro. This singular experience showcases notes of underripe peach, honeysuckle and a delicate touch of funk.
$12/500mL bottle, limit 1 PP

Wired for Sound @ Black Shirt Brewing Company (Denver) – 3719 Walnut St, Denver, Colorado

Date/ Time: Saturday, November 16, from 11:00 –12:00 a.m.

Details: At an altitude of more than 6600 ft, in the veritable cradle of coffee, Nigatu Wase grows remarkable coffee beans in exceptional terroir, drying and processing his harvest using the most natural of means. A selection of those beans made their way to Sweet Bloom Coffee Roasters in Lakewood, Colorado, which is where, during a recent fall snowstorm, a cupping occurred, a question was posited, and a beer was born.  How harmoniously can the brightly acidic coffee of Yirgacheffe, with its layers of subtlety, be married to the beer world?

Wired for Sound is a humble double brown ale showcasing Nigatu Wase’s harvest. Subtle notes of raspberry, Cabernet, and unsweetened chocolate interweave with milk bread and a tinge of maple in this light bodied, floral coffee. We have done our best to capture those nuances in a 9% ABV package with a noticeable caffeine jolt. Wired for Sound is releasing on nitro only this Saturday, November 16 (no crowlers). Available exclusively in our taproom at 3719 Walnut Street.

And if more chocolatey, sweet hazelnut coffees are your jam, stay tuned!  There will be a sister beer in the near future focusing on the Augusto Castillo grown Huehuetenango.
