What We’re Drinking | October 9, 2020
October 9, 2020 | Brandon Cohran 1Fall weather and a post-season push from the Atlanta Braves are making this month quite enjoyable here in Georgia. It has been a lot easier to find joy and happiness in small things in this ravenous year of 2020. COVID-19 and the presidential debates are prominent reminders of what is important right now and in the future. In the meantime, here is What We’re Drinking.
Noon Whistle Brewing | Papaya Gummy Vortex Northeast IPA
September 3, 2020 | Dave DruryNoon Whistle Brewing Co. has become one of Chicagoland’s go-to breweries for IPAs, especially hazies. The brewery, located in suburban Lombard, Illinois, does IPAs so well that even Planters – a massive global brand – wanted to collaborate with them to create a peanut IPA. Solaris Beer & Blending | Pink Flowers (Rose Petals)
June 4, 2020 | Jadon Flores 1In the face of adversity and trying times, it is always an encouraging sight to witness those who press forward and beat the odds. Solaris Beer & Blending in Murrieta, California, is one of such stories. Though they have no tasting room and are still under construction, the brewery was able to put the proper licensing in place in the midst of a pandemic. One of the first beers Solaris released was Pink Flowers – Rose Petals, part of their Sour & Flower series. This sour golden ale was brewed with rose petals, Turkish apricots, kumquats and conditioned on French oak.

Zero Gravity Brewery | Green State Lager
May 20, 2020 | Rich StonerI remember my first time like it was yesterday. It was late March in the winter of 2016. My wife and I were looking for some après-ski nourishment. After a long day of skiing at Stowe, this was an absolute necessity. Making our way down the mountain access road we eventually wandered into a restaurant called Doc Ponds.
Gazing at the beer menu while taking a seat at the bar, I asked the bartender, “what do you recommend?” An avid Vermont skier, I’m very familiar with the Green Mountain State’s vast craft beer market. However, I always like a local’s take when I can get it. Ultimately, his response pushed me in the direction of Zero Gravity Brewery Green State Lager, a beer that they had just put on tap. One sip and I was in love, hooked on the light, crisp, bready Pilsner bearing the state’s name.

Dogfish Head | 120 Minute IPA
January 20, 2020 | Jadon Flores120 Minute IPA has been on my white whale beer list for a while, up there with Utopias and Pliny the Younger. So when I happened to find a bottle at random in a liquor store near my house, I was extremely surprised and needless to say I bought it immediately. Being I’m on the opposite side of the country from where its made, it’s a rare find for me at least.
