With the rise of craft beer, Dallas has had a definite increase in the number of breweries coming into the market. More and more big companies have moved into the marketplace as well, causing a rise in the number of occupants moving in. This has only increased the demand for good quality beer. More travelers choose Dallas as their next travel spot now whether it be for the shopping or food destinations, its historical landmarks (JFK Sixth Floor Museum for one) or even for the artistic culture Dallas has to offer.
When you think of Texas you think of many things, the Dallas Cowboys for one (let’s hope they pull it together soon), massive beef steaks and the State Fair of Texas. This yearly event draws hundreds of thousands over to Fair Park in Dallas, Texas and is the largest & longest running fair in the nation.
With summer upon us, days in Texas can be brutal – rising temperatures heading into the triple digits call for ways to stay hydrated. What could be more appropriate than a cold brew on a hot day? Those perfectly suited for the Texas scorching heat that can equally be enjoyed all day or even poolside. So put aside the lemonade and water, here is the Ultimate 6er of Texas beers to beat the summer heat.
It’s no surprise that one of my favorite local breweries is none other than Peticolas Brewing Co. They continue to push the envelope with their superior brews, consistently delivering year after year. One of the most anticipated collaborations in the DFW craft brew scene – Operation Collaboration IPA – is a joint effort between Peticolas and Chuck Silva of Green Flash Brewing Co., and includes two experimental hop varieties simply known as 07270 and 06277 for now.
Last weekend, the fourth annual Dallas-born Big Texas Beer Fest took place in Fair Park. Thousands headed over to the Automobile Building in search of craft beers and great food paired with live music from local bands. This year more than 500 beers (38 barrel-aged) were announced from 120 representing local, national and international breweries.

They say Texans are crazy and indeed we are. For one the weather in Texas can be quite temperamental, going from incredible warm sunny days and then dropping to freezing temps on another.
Luckily for us, the weather has been in our favor lately. So good, that it’s allowed for nights on the patio accompanied by great friends, a craft beer in hand and Cards Against Humanity mayhem. Causing for one heck of a hilarious and memorable game night!
As if there weren’t enough days to drink during the week. Somehow Thursday’s always seem to take the prize as one of my favorite drinking days. Something about knowing you’re a day away …
