Fort George Brewery | City of Dreams

Fort George Brewery | City of Dreams
Rachyl Fojtik

Does anyone else feel like mere mortals when walking into an iconic brewery? We put these places on pedestals because it’s more than beer; it’s an art and art should be praised and marveled. Fort George Brewery is one of those places in the Pacific Northwest, having created an epic name for themselves in the town of Astoria, Oregon. A lovely way to celebrate the brewery and its home city is with its City of Dreams New England Style Pale Ale.

ABV: 5.5%

This brewery truly embodies the PNW principles: locally sourced ingredients, an eye on the environment with an employee bike program, and trimming their carbon footprint with each step of their growth. In fact, Fort George includes a sustainability report and charitable summary on its website. When you’re so close to the Oregon coast you can touch it, it’s easier to keep environmental priorities in focus.

Astoria, Oregon could certainly be considered a “City of Dreams.” One of my favorite places to pass through on my way to the coast. Their NE-inspired Pale Ale definitely inspires my coastal dreams.

Breathe in a nose full of ripe and dank peaches. Sweet, juicy and resinous. Take in a mouthful and taste an herbal quality that mingles with ripe stone fruit and the most subtle bitterness lying in the background. This one is light but with no lack of flavor. Best enjoyed fresh in the PNW, preferably by a fire, out kayaking or anywhere good beer is desired.
