#ElysianBrewing – PorchDrinking.com
This month I had the opportunity to interview Elysian Brewing Head Brewer Josh Waldman to reflect on the state of Elysian brewing as well as some of the new additions to their canned lineup. These canned vessels possess the advantage of being super portable, light weight and literally crushable!
We were also given the chance to sample new cans of Day Glow IPA 16 oz cans possessing the same recognizable logo, and that familiar sweet hop forward profile. Find out more on what’s happening at Elysian Brewing from Josh Waldman.
Various amazing writers at PorchDrinking have covered television hits in Ultimate 6ers for years, including Parks & Recreation (Parts I & II), The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones and American Idol (just kidding, we have standards). With these past Ultimate 6ers in mind, I just had to create a new one for my current pop culture love affair: HBO’s new hit Westworld.
In case you don’t know, Westworld blends Grand Theft Auto with Jurassic Park in an old western setting. Westworld is an amusement park where guests pay to be immersed in a realistic 1800s “Old West” environment. With towns, farms, rivers, deserts, and more, guests are able to choose their own adventures: from tracking down outlaws to becoming an outlaw or taking advantage of the local bordello’s enticing attractions. Guests are even able to kill the park’s lifelike androids, also known as Hosts.
Hooray for the spooky chill in the air. Besides the overwhelming benefits of better sleep in a cool bedroom, it’s Halloween time! One of our family’s favorite holidays. Bring on the autumn beer and horror movies!
In case you muggles missed it, September 1 was a very eventful day.
While you all were going about your typical Tuesdays – going to work, catching the bus, buying your groceries, whathaveyou, James Sirius Potter was starting his first day at Hogwarts.
I know what you’re thinking, but no, I did not choose to write about Elysian’s Loser Pale Ale because it’s from Seattle and the Seahawks lost the Super Bowl and everyone is (still) talking about how Pete Carroll made the play call that lost it all… But now that you mention it, my choice of beer does allow me to draw some interesting comparisons between the Anheuser-Busch acquisition of Elysian Brewing and the Super Bowl.
Great American Beer Festival is a unique opportunity for people that enjoy beer to rub elbows with the amazingly talented people that have propelled the craft beer scene into the vastly successful industry you see today. Here is a quick guide to some of the beer celebrities you may see in Denver this year during GABF. By no means is this a complete list of everyone to look for. If you have a favorite brewery, author, blogger or personality that is not on this list, try to find them on Twitter to see if you can meet them.
Since I’m originally from the Midwest, I pride myself on being able to withstand harsh weather – frigid winters and humid summers are the foundations of even my earliest memories, and I recall those glory days bravely and often. However, after three summers in Seattle, I’m beginning to turn into a bit of a weather wimp, and once it hit 80 degrees for the 10th day in a row I started to get that antsy, uncomfortable feeling that had previously only plagued me after a month of 95 degree, 90% humidity days in the Midwest. It was time for a beer.
