Every year a handful of breweries burst onto the scene and seem to gain overwhelming popularity overnight. These breweries are often coveted in trading circles and are setting the tone in their local communities. A brewery that one could say fits into this category is Mountains Walking. Mountains Walking in Bozeman, Montana has been open for a couple of years now and has quietly been perfecting their craft and people have been taking notice in 2020.
July usually is a month when we look forward to family gatherings, watching fireworks with friends and trips to mark the end of summer. Sadly, we are still in the midst of a global pandemic and have to put these plans on hold to ensure the spread of COVID-19 lessens. Some states have opened outdoor seating for breweries and some counties are cracking down on gatherings on beaches. Even Costco, at least where I live, isn’t making party platters since groups of 10 or more are discouraged. Set up a camping chair in your backyard, crack a cold one, and check out how our team is coping with another week in pandemic-land. This is What We’re Drinking.
While checking the date for writing this post, it really hit me that half of the year is already over. I’m not sure I’m relieved or bummed about that. In six months this year has produced all sorts of hard times for multitudes of people. One thing I’m sure everyone can agreed on is that COVID-19 stole months of our lives that we’ll never get back. While that’s unfortunate, that should be all the more reason the seize the moment and live life to the fullest. Get out there and explore some new breweries or beer bars and support this industry that we all enjoy so much. This is What We’re Drinking.
Most of us are going on week seven or eight, (wait, what week is it?) of shelter-in-place, and life as we know it is completely upside down. Personally, I’ve been doing beer-to-go runs every week to make sure my fridge is stocked with the best of the best fresh beer from my local breweries and brewpubs to help me get through these crazy times. Over at PorchDrinking.com, we are here for you, so we are happy to help you decide what beers to pick up this week and continue supporting your local beer scene. Here’s What We’re Drinking week 7 (?) quarantine edition.
As we see May on the horizon, the majority of us are still isolating and sheltering in place, waiting for some good news and a timeline of when life as we knew it can start again. We hope everyone is staying safe, practicing social distancing when out picking up essentials and yes, supporting local businesses! Our team is busy bringing ya’ll great articles and of course drinking great local craft beer while doing so. Check out what we’re drinking.
It’s time to turn off the news, grab your favorite beer and reflect on what you are most grateful for during this very weird time. I hope you are all staying safe and finding creative ways to move through your days. One fun way is to get a local beer-to-go and raise a glass once again as part of the #NationwideCheers going on every Friday promptly at 5 p.m. wherever you happen to be. Here are some great ideas for beers to cheers with from your PorchDrinking team in this week’s What We’re Drinking.
Hope everyone is hanging in there amidst this global pandemic —we really are in this together. With the growing number of people testing positive for the virus to the ever growing number of unemployed due to this pandemic it’s getting harder to find a bright spot. Our PorchDrinking team has been my bright spot, and many adorable animal Instagram accounts keep me laughing and smiling during this period. The PD crew has amazing knowledge of craft beer and is always turning me on to new things! Crack a cold one and check out what our team has been quenching their thirst with the past few weeks! Stay safe out there, folks!
