Buffalo Bill’s Brewery | Orange Blossom Cream Ale

Orange Blossom Cream Ale

Hi all! I’m Kate, a new contributor around here. I write the blog Brown Ale Girl, which shares snippets of life, food, and beer in Cincinnati. I love drinking dark beer, supporting local businesses, and witnessing the revitalization of the Queen City.

ABV: 5.2%

IBU: 13

Yogi Berra is credited as saying, “Love is the most important thing in the world, but baseball is pretty good, too.” Granted that it’s THE American pastime, I think a lot of people would agree. I grew up in a household where the Cincinnati Reds game was on the outdoor radio and family room television every night. Therefore, it’s not officially spring to me until I attend a baseball game. I was a little late this year, but this week I went to my first Reds and high school game of the season. To be honest, I felt chills when I heard the first “thwack” of the ball hitting the catcher’s glove.

Although I’m a dark beer girl, baseball season calls for light, crisp, refreshing beer, and it’s the one time of year I gladly accept it. I recently discovered Buffalo Bill’s Brewery’s Orange Blossom Cream Ale, which is brewed with honey, orange peel, and orange flower extract. It was the first time I’d tried any of the brewery’s products, but it definitely won’t be the last. Founded in California in 1983, Buffalo Bill’s has expanded its distribution to forty different states and offers a killer menu at their restaurant.

Orange Blossom Cream Ale lives up to its name. With a deep hay color, it gives off an orange juice and slight floral aroma. Best of all, it tastes like a Creamsicle: slightly thick, creamy, and a long aftertaste of lingering orange peel. Although sweet, it is definitely a beer I could have a few of, especially at the ballpark. Can’t wait for the rest of the season—and to drink this beer again soon!
