Roundtable Discussion | Saturday Morning Cartoons
October 8, 2014 | Kate StarkThis weekend marked the first time in 50 years that there are no longer Saturday morning cartoons on the major TV networks. In honor of those foregone glory days, we asked the PorchDrinking staffers, “what were your favorite Saturday morning cartoons?”
PorchDrinking Playlist | September’s New Music

This playlist includes September’s new releases—all the great new music you should have discovered last month— featuring recent hits from Kendrick Lamar, SOHN and Yelle. The remaining songs are a mix of rap, hip-hop and electro-pop; just the right amount of energy to fire up for the beginning of Autumn!
Why you should be watching the SEC West on Saturday
October 3, 2014 | Josh BuchananOctober is such a great time for sports. The NHL returns, the World Series comes around and conference play in the NCAA starts taking place. This Saturday, however, should be getting most of your attention. 23 of the top 25 teams will be taking the field in many important conference showdowns (16 to be exact). Most notably, 6 of the top 15 will be playing each other in, yup, you guessed it, the SEC West. Here they are. Read More

Pop Culture Week in Review: September 20-26
September 26, 2014 | Drew TrollerNo awards shows this week. No big breaking news. Yes, fall shows are back, but this is a POP CULTURE week in review, not a TV recapping session.
Plus, my computer ate about 800 words that I had written, so I’m doing this late, and I’m doing it dirty. Let’s get started! Read More

Roundtable Discussion |GABF Game Plan
September 24, 2014 | Kathleen MortonGreat American Beer Festival takes place Oct. 2-4 at the Colorado Convention Center. Since that’s right around the corner, we asked our staff if they had a GABF game plan and what it was. Are they looking forward to sours, pumpkin, big beers or hoppy beers?
PorchDrinking Playlist | Cut Copy
September 23, 2014 | Ellie ThompsonThe Australian electronic band Cut Copy, though formed in 2001, has become more successful these past few years with their appearance at large music festivals such as Governors Ball, SxSW and Lollapalooza, as well as the release of their hit albums “In Ghost Colours” and “Free Your Mind.” Their eclectic pop vibes, though youthful and lighthearted, are admirable and majestic, despite their seasoned veteran status. This playlist features some of the best Cut Copy songs, in my opinion, yet also includes singles from other bands that have similarly fresh sounds.

Roundtable Discussion | Relocating for the Beer
September 17, 2014 | Amber Dunlap 1As extreme beer enthusiasts, our PorchDrinking team knows their beer and they also know where to find it and be completely content for the rest of their lives. In this week’s Roundtable Discussion, I asked the team where they would relocate if their only criteria was excellent beer. Many are already living in their beer heaven. Others knew exactly where they’d rather be if beer’s the sole decider.
If you find yourself getting the itch to try on a new hometown, you may want to take note of their answers.

Awesomesauce | Relay App
September 11, 2014 | Laura MegoBy now, our mass hysteria regarding Apple’s worst kept secret (an iWatch…duh!) is over, and we can focus on more important things; like your new favorite app!
Of course, everybody loves a good GIF (what’s funnier than watching a 10 second loop of a dog licking a glass door, or some lady falling flat on her face over and over? Answer: nothing), so I knew right after downloading it that Relay was going to be a lot of fun. At its most basic, Relay is a GIF messenger, but the real delight of the app is in the details. Goodell Misses His Adam Silver Moment
September 10, 2014 | Mike ZollerIn April a commissioner got up in front of the entire sports world and took drastic action to start mending a wrong so horrible it threatened to destroy an entire team. Adam Silver banned Donald Sterling from the NBA for making terribly racist remarks and eventually forced him to sell the team.
In April another commissioner supposedly saw a video of a player doing a terrible act of violence and did nothing. Roger Goodell had his Adam Silver moment and has failed miserably.
