Chicago White Sox Partner with Revolution Brewing and a Tour of the Craft Kave

Chicago White Sox Partner with Revolution Brewing and a Tour of the Craft Kave

It was merely spring training when we first reported on the White Sox Craft Kave, and now a month into the season the south siders are looking up with a tie for first in the AL Central. Recently, the White Sox organization invited PorchDrinking to visit the Craft Kave for an inside look into MLB’s finest collection of craft offerings in a single stadium.

Although The Kave is not all about craft — macro’s and macro-owned quasi crafts certainly exist, the infusion of Craft Beer into the White Sox home is not only substantial, it’s celebrated. In fact, The Chicago White Sox recently announced a new marketing agreement with Revolution Brewing: Rev will be featured as the “Beer of the Homestand” during the Detroit and Boston series on May 26 through May 31.

The moment one walks into the Kraft Cave, located in right field of Guaranteed Rate Field, it’s hard not to be impressed. The wall of coolers, abundant bar space, access to patios and a window to the field on one side, is surreal. I mean, we all know what a about the typical ballpark beer experience, don’t we?

The White Sox still have plenty of beer guys and gals roaming the stands, but there’s now craft beer kiosks throughout the stadium, and the Kave offers those of us who prefer quality independently owned craft options a little extra variety.

More impressive, The Craft Kave serves as a craft beer gateway, helping bridge the gap between macro and craft beer.  Before accessing the wall ‘o beers, one must first encounter the craft-beer attendant who will a) help you understand the selections and point you to the craft beer organization (each cooler contains different beer genres and b) control the lines so that only a few people stand in front of the coolers, which allows everyone time and space to make a decision without feeling rushed or crowded.

Essentially, the Kave is more than just a a place to grab craft beer, it’s about a terrific craft experience, which includes the beer, outdoor patios right behind the right field fence and a up close and personal view of the opposing bullpen. Moreover, the food is exceptional. Indeed, the chef-driven burgers are something to behold. A White Sox spokesperson noted,

The White Sox are committed to providing our fans with the best experience possible at the ballpark. As part of that commitment, we evaluate every opportunity to see how we can make every fan’s visit to the ballpark the very best experience possible. A significant part of that process is evaluating our food offerings – what’s a fan favorite that can be improved on, what’s missing, etc. The addition of craft burgers was an easy decision when you look at how well the savory flavors pair with the newly added craft beers.

The large, diverse menu is impressive, to say the least.

“White Sox Senior Vice President Brooks Boyer worked closely with Sportservice General Manager at Guaranteed Rate Field Joey Nigro to put together the menu of 75 different craft beer choices. We wanted to give our fans a taste of regional breweries that complemented the variety of food we have at the ballpark, while also giving fans a taste of some breweries that they may not have tried.”

One can stay in the Kave, saunter out to the first-come-first-serve lower level patio, or, for $15, head to the upper portions of the patio, A wait staff will attend to your needs on either level.  One can bring cans to the patio sections, but if the beer comes in a bottle, the Sox have cups available to pour the beer prior to going outside.

But that’s not all.

The Chicago White Sox have announced an agreement with Revolution Brewing

Revolution will be featured as the “Beer of the Homestand” when the White Sox play the Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox from May 26 through May 31 at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Revolution Brewing will enjoy noticeable exposure, including a branded interactive kiosk on the 100-level concourse, presence on the digital LED ribbon boards throughout the ballpark and logo display in the Craft Kave located near the right field bullpen.

A White Sox press release noted:

“Revolution Brewing is an established, hugely popular craft brewery in Chicago and throughout the country. We are excited to welcome them to the White Sox family of craft beer partners and expand their presence in the ballpark,” said Brooks Boyer, White Sox senior vice president of sales and marketing. “We have received great feedback from guests about the refreshing changes to the fan experience at the ballpark that represent Chicago’s own tastes and experiences, and that includes Revolution Brewing.”

“Nothing goes better with some great baseball in Chicago than a cold Revolution beer, brewed right here in the City of Chicago,” said Josh Deth, Chairman of the Party for Revolution Brewing.

And the last comment, basically says it all:

“The White Sox organization is leading the way by partnering with smaller brewers to give fans a real choice at the ballpark, and Revolution Brewing is proud to be a part of that change.”
