Pants Can’t Dance @ Black Shirt Brewing Company (Denver) – 3719 Walnut St, Denver, Colorado

Date/ Time: Wednesday, December 11, from 11:00 a.m. –10:00 p.m.

Details: On Wednesday of this week, Black Shirt will release a new West Coast-style IPA called Pants Can Dance. Brewed with Citra, Galaxy and Centennial hops, Pants Can Dance is a bold and bright IPA boasting lovely aromatics, a melange of citrus notes, and a bittersmooth finish. (Yes, bittersmooth is a made-up word. It’s also a new age tune. Who knew?)There’s a story behind every beer name, and this one is no different, though it is markedly special. A dear friend of the brewery, known as Sandy Pants, was in a serious accident two years back and completely shattered her ankle. The prognosis was grim – close to 70% of her type of break ends in amputation. Thanks to the remarkable Limb Preservation team at Presbyterian/St. Lukes, Sandy was able to keep her leg below the knee, and was fitted with an external fixator – 11 pins through bones, holding them in place – which she wore for more than three months. Much physical therapy followed. Though she is still dealing with the aftereffects of the injury, we were happy to see Sandy back in action! During Black Shirt’s Friendsgiving this year, she danced to ABBA’s Dancing Queen with BSB’s resident Irishman, Kevin O’Connor. Every step, dip, and twirl was a gift. It was a momentous occasion, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

Soon thereafter, our new IPA was christened Pants Can Dance. Oh yes she can. Pants Can Dance is 7.2% ABV, and will be available on draft and in crowlers to go starting Wednesday, 12/11.

Funky Bottle Release Day @ Primitive Beer (Longmont) – 2025 Ionosphere St, Longmont, Colorado

Date/ Time: Saturday, December 14, from 12:00–8:00 p.m.

Details: We have more bottles to unleash on the world! Look out for these bad boys and girls, because while our first bottle release showcased BALANCE and NUANCE this second release is highlighting some of our favorite edges. We’re talking FUNK, we’re talking SASS, and we’re talking in-your-face WEIRDNESS!

First up we’ve got Harbored in the Fuzz.
Our second effervescent stone-fruit bomb, this two-year aged spontaneous beer was refermented on Colorado-grown Red Globe Peaches from Hotchkiss for ten months before bottle conditioning for six months with local Alfalfa honey.
Sun-warmed fuzzy peach skin, fresh squeezed orange juice, and sweaty blue cheese aromas jump out of the glass. The intensely fruity and funky nose juxtaposes more delicate Bellini-like flavors. This beer is incredibly dry and pleasantly acidic. We think of Harbored in the Fuzz as the funkier brother to “So Last Season: Nectarine”.

Next up is Harvest Glitter.
Our first sparkling hop-focused beer, Harvest Glitter is the result of two-year aged spontaneous beer rested in Chardonnay barrels for ten days upon fresh/wet Colorado-grown Chinook whole cones from High Wire Hops in Paonia.
Candied pineapple on the nose is followed by notes of spruce tip, apricot jam, and white grape skins. The super restrained acidity and crisp, highly effervescent finish makes this beer an approachable all-day drinker.

We’ll also have Festive Splash, a brand-new still beer in boxes!
Festive Splash is a multiple puncheon blend of year-old spon-spon bing-bong. Aromas of over-ripened pineapple, black tea with orange, and musty cellar funk are followed by bright citrus-like acidity that is balanced by moderate aged-hop bitterness and a slight honey-like sweetness. We are excited to release this thoroughly drinkable still-blend, which targets flavors reminiscent of those found in young spontaneous beers offered by our Belgian contemporaries.

Open 12-8pm on Saturday, but you can also get these beers at our Holiday Marketplace this Thursday (12/12) from 4-9pm.

My Ohana Eats food trucks will be serving up tasty meals! Check them out, they’re a Longmont favorite!

Date/ Time: Saturday, December 14, from 12:00–11:00 p.m.

Details: Our 5th Annual Tennyson Street Holiday Market is upon us, and this year, we are hosting our first ever kRUMPUSnacht party — the after-party featuring Santa’s less jolly demonic counterpart. That’s right, it will be a warm, fuzzy, gleeful, and merry affair during the day, followed by much darker, creepier Krampus debauchery in the evening. You do NOT want to miss the festivities on Saturday, December 14th from Noon til 11pm!

NOON til 6pm…
Inspired by the world famous German holiday markets, the event kicks off at Noon with lights a-twinklin’, decorations galore, artisanal gift vendors, delicious food, and special holiday-inspired beer releases. We’re fortunate enough to host nearly two dozen fabulous local small businesses — inside and outdoors — for one-stop holiday shopping and community-gathering…all with beer in hand! Be sure to come prepared for some outdoor shopping by dressing warm because it wouldn’t be a Holiday Market if the temps weren’t chilly and snow wasn’t in the air! Don’t worry, the taproom will be toasty and cozy as usual. 🙂 To sweeten the pot, visit over 10 vendors and get entered into our raffle for big ol’ baskets full of goodies from the vendors. There will be three drawings: 2pm, 4pm, and 6pm.

As the market breaks down and the sky fills with darkness, Krumpusnacht begins…

Start getting your costumes ready NOW because here comes Halloween Part Deux: Krampus edition! There will be two costume contest categories: Krampus and non-Krampus (think steam punk, twisted holiday elves, ghosts of Christmas, you get the idea). Costume contest check-in is at 7pm. ALL participants in the costume contests will receive a free pint! Winners will receive gift cards and swag. In addition to all you freaks, we will have real live Krampus entertainers in the house to terrify you and your littles and provide photo opps. DJ IMEH will be bringing the tunes from 7 – 10pm. Let’s get weird, all Krampus’ed up, and party!

IMPORTANT INFO for anyone COSTUMING UP on Saturday…if you are dressing up as a Krampus or some other creepy Xmas (ish) themed creature, and you would like to participate in the GRAND-TAPROOM-ENTRANCE Krampuslauf, read on…

We will be assembling at Berkeley Park Running Company (4568 Tennyson Street – 100 yards north of CTA) at 6:45pm. As the clock strikes 7 o’clock (ish), we will proceed together in Krampuslauf form down Tennyson to terrorize the taproom dwellers in grandiose fashion. Who’s in?!?!?

Judges for the costume contests will be waiting in the taproom, watching carefully, and will announce their decisions by 7:30pm. First place for best Krampus costume, and first place for best Non-Krampus-but-still-creepy-Xmas costume.

Lastly, to help provide warmth during the winter season in partnership with Clothes To Kids of Denver, Call to Arms is holding a Coat Drive at the event but also running through the month of December. Bring in one or more new or gently used coats (size 4T through adult) and receive a free 10oz Core beer.

EVENT TIMING:
12 – 6pm: Holiday Market
5pm: Krampuslauf (Krampus 2 – 3 Mile Fun Run)
7pm: Krumpusnacht Begins & Costume Contest Check-In
7 – 10pm: DJ Imeh
