The time has come for us to anxiously start planning out our Thanksgiving beer supplies because we all know that Thanksgiving isn’t complete without a solid beer lineup to share with family and friends. While there are plenty of options to look forward to, you don’t want to sleep on a few of the Black Friday releases that we have down below either! So, while you sip on that delicious beer, be thankful that you’re enjoying Black Friday, and let everyone else pack into stores instead.

After nine years of operating as one of the pioneer breweries in Denver’s RiNo neighborhood, Epic Brewing will close its Denver location before the end of the year. Opening just a year after River North Brewery, Our Mutual Friend Brewing, and Black Shirt Brewery, Epic Brewing joined a groundswell of craft beer producers to transform the North side of Denver into one of the most heavily saturated craft brewery neighborhoods in the country.

As we move into November, we officially leave spooky season behind us. Now, even though spooky season is over, it doesn’t mean the treats have to go away just yet! While the Great American Beer Festival has come and gone, the frenzied pace of the largest beer festival in the country descending upon the Centennial State certainly hasn’t subsided. In fact, in the two weeks since GABF a lot has happened. So we thought we’d recap some of the more notable comings and goings surrounding Colorado’s craft beer scene as of late.
Denver Rare Beer Tasting Impresses After Three Year Absence

The Denver Rare Beer Tasting returned to Denver’s McNichols Civic Center this past week after a three year absence, and a palpable excitement filled the air as beer lovers tasted some of the rarest beers in the country. Denver Rare Beer Tasting is an invitational beer festival benefitting Pints for Prostates, an organization that raises awareness about prostate cancer and promotes early detection. While benefiting a good cause, attendees are able to taste amazing beers they’ll likely never taste again, as well as talk with esteemed brewers and brewery founders like Sam Calagione, Adam Avery, and Shyla Sheppard.
Denver’s Sunroom Brewing Celebrates Grand Opening

Sunroom Brewing celebrated its grand opening on Sept. 30 as one of the Denver-area’s newest breweries. Located directly behind one of Englewood’s more intimate concert venues, The Gothic Theater, the family-run brewery serves up a range of beer styles in an airy taproom with a large enclosed patio. Colorado’s Best Fresh Hop Beers Presented by On Tap Credit Union

For the fourth installment of PorchDrinking’s Blind Tasting Series presented by On Tap Credit Union, breweries from around Colorado submitted their fresh hop beers. To start with, the Brewer’s Association defines Fresh Hop beers as, “Ales or lagers are brewed with freshly harvested hops, typically no more than 72 hours prior to being added. Such hops might be undried fresh or frozen cones or ground material, or freshly kilned dried cones or pellets.” For this tasting, we received Fresh Hop beers from 16 different Colorado breweries.

The 40th anniversary of the Great American Beer Festival marks the first time the event has been held in person and open to the public since 2019. To say that brewers and craft beer fans are excited is an extreme understatement. While participation and attendance were limited this year due to renovations to the Colorado Convention Center, the exhibitor floor was still packed with over 200 suppliers and drew over 10,000 fans to the event.
