#Heavy Seas Beer – PorchDrinking.com
I’m not going to lie to you. You don’t deserve that. My week has been a scheduling hellscape, the likes of which has never been seen before. Dear readers, you should feel honored that I prioritized your social media addiction above my own health and well being. This is The Weekly Buzz. You’re welcome.
This was one of those weeks that I allowed my day job to get in the way of my fun beer writing job. I really had to push my Twitter-scrolling finger past its safety limits to get this post out in time. While I grab an ice pack and a beer, you can check out this edition of The Weekly Buzz.
This is a glorious day. It’s Friday, and I’m about to have an entire weekend off. This only happens about once a month, and I could not be more stoked. My weekend beer plans are already in the works. Have you started planning yet? Maybe these social media posts will help! Sharpen your pencils and pull out your day planner. This is The Weekly Buzz.
This was a crazy week in craft beer! It all started with International Beer Day on Friday. The week hit a critical mass of insanity when Funky Buddha (R.I.P.) was purchased by Constellation Brands and Magnolia Brewing was acquired by New Belgium (and partners). Also, let us not forget that I personally drank upwards of 12 beers. Slipping between the cracks of the more earth-shattering developments were plenty of event announcements, a few brewery anniversaries and a handful of job openings. Grab a beer and get ready to work on The Weekly Buzz.
It’s been another long, hot week. Not only that, but it was a busy week in the world of craft beer. GABF tickets went on sale, we celebrated National IPA Day and one of this country’s oldest craft breweries was bought by Sapporo. As the weekend creeps towards us, we all need to sit back, take a deep breath and enjoy a delicious beer. While you do that, feel free to peruse this week’s edition of The Weekly Buzz.
This week, the PorchDrinkers raised many a glass in honor of the United States’ 241st birthday. I mean, we would have drunk them all anyway, but I promise that we were all thinking about America as we poured them down our throats. Pinky swear! Beer is brewed in all 50 states and is sometimes the only thing that many of us have in common. Hoist a celebratory pint, finish reading NPR’s tweets of the Declaration of Independence, and check out What We’re Drinking!
This week had so much fun beer stuff going on that it was hard to keep track. There was SAVOR in DC, Philly Beer Week, the Firestone Walker International Beer Fest… Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! There were also a few interesting announcements and (unfortunately) a little more shady intrigue from AB-InBev. Drag your laptop out to the porch and prepare to discover The Weekly Buzz.
The NFL conference championships have been decided, and the Pro Bowl is this weekend. Does anyone watch the Pro Bowl? Anyone? Since none of you watch it, this will be a great weekend to head out and discover some new craft beers. When you find them, definitely mail them to me. I want all of them. The Weekly Buzz is ready to point you in all the right directions!
There’s a little pre-Super Bowl bonus content at the bottom, so make sure you read to the end!
Left Hand adds a new beer to their line up, Maui Brewing expands distribution, and Constellation is set to buy out Ballast Point. These are the hard-hitting craft beer news stories that you need to know. Keep reading to catch all of the details in this edition of the Weekly Growler Fill.
