Celebrating friendships has always been extremely important, even more so after experiencing the trash fire of 2020. Galentine’s Day is a favorite holiday of mine, as it is a day where I can bake and craft and celebrate the incredible women in my life. I spend more time preparing for Galentine’s Day than I do most things, so knowing that this year will need to be postponed just equals more time to make celebrating female friendships extra special.

As you may know, Half Acre Beer Co. is opening up a big and shiny brewing facility on Balmoral Avenue, which means more delicious beer and food from one of Chicago’s premiere craft beer destinations. To help launch the facility, Half Acre is hosting the 2nd annual Big North festival at the new digs, which will include over 35 Half Acre beer options, including a bunch of rare and experimental brews, drool-worthy food from the Half Acre kitchen, live music, and more. I’m jealous of every PorchDrinker this week. I have been working too much to enjoy any fine craft brews. Luckily, I get to live vicariously through each and every one of them. Don’t worry about me, fair readers. My liver shall be vindicated next week. I’ll be vacationing in Myrtle Beach and will have nothing to do except imbibe. The inclusion of so many Pennsylvania breweries was a happy accident brought on by sleep deprivation, but I’m sticking with it. I love the beers brewed in my commonwealth and thing that you should drink them no matter where you live. I will personally guide any and all beer tourists to the best breweries in PA.
