Uinta Brewing Company | Hop Nosh IPA

ABV: 7.0% | IBU: 82.4

While exploring craft beer early on, we stumbled upon the higher point brews of Utah’s local breweries. We found Uinta Brewing’s Hop Nosh IPA. In the beginning, it was tough to handle bitter, hoppy beers but did our best trying them in limited amounts. Doesn’t almost every craft beer enthusiast go through the transition of ‘hop hater’ to ‘hop head’? There is no vaccine – once you’ve caught the bug, you have it. The beginning pursuit for the most floral, hoppy, bitter beers in an effort to satisfy your tongue’s need for liquid adventure. Ultimate 6er | A Guide to Utah Pils

July 27, 2016 | Avg. Reading Time: 4 min

As I drive to meet a local brewer to learn about his most recent release, I think about the time we once asked another brewer what he felt was the ‘next big thing’ in craft beer. His reply: “German Pilsner.” This no doubt came as a bit of a shock. Berliner Weisse, session IPA, or even Imperial fruit beer would have all seemed appropriate. Instead, he picked a classic style originating from the Czech Republic in 1842. Interesting enough, we started noticing a trend: Friends working in breweries often mentioned pilsner as their go-to-beer. A few years ago there might not have been enough local quality pils to make an Ultimate 6er and although it hasn’t become the ‘next big thing’, it has made a resurgence. We give you a guide to Utah’s very own Pilsners. Read More

Uinta Brewing Company | King’s Peak Porter

December 7, 2015 | Avg. Reading Time: 2 min

ABV: 4%

The Winnebago Adventurer that I call home is parked 15 minutes from North America’s largest ski resort. This is no coincidence.

Since I bought my “Dirtbag Dreamship” last summer and parked it here October 1, the winterizing projects have been non-stop—fixing a broken furnace, heat-taping water hoses, insulating shit-pipes, installing a wood stove. But now these projects are done. It’s time for a beer, and the beer I choose tonight is King’s Peak Porter from Salt Lake City’s Uinta Brewing Company. Read More

One of the great things about warmer weather is spending time with family and friends. Whether it’s an impromptu poker game, gathering for a BBQ or heading to the hills to sleep under the stars, there doesn’t have to be another boring weekend indoors. We truly are lucky to live in Utah, a place where we ‘usually’ have four seasons, each possessing benefits. As the affectionate weather trend continues, we can’t help but turn on the deck lights, powder off the outdoor speakers from the inside out and lounge on the porch with interesting brews. Read More

Ultimate 6er | Koozie Doozies

October 15, 2014 | Avg. Reading Time: 3 min

Yeah, a nice craft beer sipped from a fancy glass is great, but sometimes a little neoprene sleeve around a classic can of suds is even better. The koozie keeps your beer from getting warm and your hand from getting cold. More importantly though, it gets you out of the house, out of the bar, just drinking good beer with good friends with a fun bit of squishy love between your hand and the can. I give you my Ultimate 6er, the beers and the best places to drink them, Koozie Doozies: Read More
