Every summer, thousands of Michiganders make their trek to the northern part of Michigan for their “Up North Vacation.” What exactly Up North entails depends on who you talk to, as the Detroit Free Press recently pointed out.
It’s been another grueling week, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. That light, of course, is the glowing neon of your local watering hole. Just as your favorite bartender is ready to listen to your woes, The Weekly Buzz is hear to brighten your day. So, kick that weird guy off of your favorite stool, belly up to the bar, and enjoy this week’s latest craft beer buzz. Oh… and don’t forget to drink a delicious beer. That’s an important part of the process.
It doesn’t seem like many PorchDrinkers indulged this week. I know I didn’t. The combination of my work schedule and my weight-loss goals have had me abstaining since Saturday. This week we praise the intrepid few. Four beer warriors have kept up the good fight while others could not. This is What We’re Drinking.
Valentine’s Day fell this week, and I have reaffirmed my love for beer. It is the sun to my moon and the surf to my turf. I mean my kids and lady are great, too, but have you tried beer? They should write a romantic comedy about me and beer. It would be a smash hit. Any Hollywood producers want to get that green-lit for me? Well, anyway, I was on Twitter this week, and this is The Weekly Buzz.
The Christmas hangover is behind us, and the New Year’s hangover is yet to come. Come with me as I descend into post-holiday insanity! Thanksgiving is sneaking up on us next week, do you have your menu planned? Maybe you still need help picking out a few beers for the occasion? Take a look at the pretty beer photos from this week’s Beerstagram to perhaps give you inspiration on what to get for your table! We’re now in the final throws of October. It’s getting dark earlier, and our beers are getting darker, too. All those dark, roasty malts will keep us warm in the cold months to come. Say goodbye to your lawnmower beer, and embrace the arrival of fall. Prepare to discover What We’re Drinking.
There has been lots of news to comb through this week. Tax breaks were enacted, archaic beer laws were scrapped, and possible brewing industry job cuts loom on the horizon. You’ll find all that (plus other announcements and silliness) right here in this weeks’ edition of The Weekly Buzz!
Guess who’s back, back again? The PorchDrinking team has rejoined forces to bring back our weekly What We’re Drinking series. As the evenings grow shorter, the temperature begins to drop and we all know that summer is quickly coming to an end. Because of this, we are drinking whatever the hell we want. We love our seasonal brews but let’s be completely honest here. We love #allthebeers. So cheers to another awesome week and hoping we can stretch a little more out of this summer.
