Ultimate 6er: AFC and NFC Championship Weekend PairingsJanuary 27, 2023 | Jennie Olson
It’s here! Well, almost here. With only two more games to play before the Big Game, this weekend’s AFC and NFC Championship matchups will finish setting the stage for Super Bowl LVII. To honor the remaining teams, we’ve dedicated an entire beer style to each of the final four Quarterbacks. Oh — and to make it a true #Ultimate6er — we’ve added two bonus quarterbacks who definitely know their way around an AFC/NFC championship weekend. Read More
Ultimate 6er | Beer and Dip PairingsJanuary 29, 2020 | Ana Plefka
Super Bowl Sunday is one of my favorite days of the year. My friends and I gather for an evening of celebration and friendly competition: the annual Dip Party. The football plays on mute for any plus ones who care about sports, and the game is only un-muted for the half-time show. Everyone attending brings a homemade dip and dunker, with first, second, and third place prizes based on a popular vote.
From sweet to savory, nostalgic classics to fresh takes, the party is all about the dip — a quintessential snack at any gathering. And as dip is the perfect party food, beer is an obvious beverage choice. This is especially true on Super Bowl Sunday when the industry is inundated with heightened awareness for beer’s biggest players. Whether enjoying a small spread or hosting a dip feast of your own, below are fail-safe beer pairings for some classic party dips.
Yards & Harpoon Place a Wager on the Super BowlJanuary 26, 2018 | Dan Bortz
Super Bowl LII is barreling toward Minneapolis. The Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots are going to clash in a David and Goliath showdown, which will hopefully be a game for the ages. As a lifelong Eagles fan, I hope the Birds give the Patriots the thrashing of their lives. As if the game wasn’t going to be fun enough already, breweries in the teams’ hometowns are placing a little bet on the big game. Just as you would expect, it all started on Twitter.
What We’re Drinking | February 10, 2017February 10, 2017 | Danele Bova
This week was full of ups and downs. Super Bowl 51 saw a huge upset by the Patriots who achieved a comeback over the Falcons (some celebrated, many did not.) Lady Gaga put on a kickass halftime show, but left her political side at home (or did she?) Beyonce broke the internet with her pregnancy announcement (the queen is having twins!) And the American public continues to flail about as the political atmosphere remains heavy and foreboding.

Earlier this week, Mike Zoller brought you downloadable bingo cards for the big game. However, if you aren’t really into football, chances are you’ll still be watching the Super Bowl, if only for the commercials. A lot of companies have already released info about their planned ad campaigns, and we’ve used that info along with trends from previous years to piece together a second set of bingo cards for this Sunday.

With the big game less than a week away there always seems to be so much more to talk about than a football game. The Super Bowl has people talking about commercials, celebrities, half time shows and the most unique and obscure bets a person can make.
You have your typical football bets on the actual game, but for the Super Bowl, bookies will take everything from how long the national anthem will take to sing to how many tweets will be sent about the game. Basically anything is fair game when it comes to the most watched sporting event of the year.
So at your Super Bowl you might participate in football squares or a variety of other betting games, one other popular one is Super Bowl Bingo. For those of you that want to play but don’t want to make your own board, PorchDrinking.com has created a great board for the game Sunday.
Pop Culture Week in Review 10/12-10/19October 19, 2012 | Admin
Any concerns of this season being boring (the main complaint from last season) were totally erased in the first episode. VAGUE SPOILER ALERT: I’m going to try to not go into specifics, but there will be hints of what happened in Sunday’s season premiere so if you really don’t want to know- skip ahead. First and foremost, all children are accounted for and now bear arms. That’s enough to improve this season leaps and bounds over where were last year. Goddamn Sophia. Any way, the last five minutes of the premiere had me in convulsions. I needed my smelling salts because I nearly went into full on lady vapors. I wouldn’t say I screamed per se, but sounds of shock and horror were emitted from my mouth. This episode was one of, if not the best episode of the series. Holy leg hack, batman. If you fell off last season, watch this premiere and get back on board. It’s a fun ship. I mean, I’m there. Read More
