Tristan Chan

Tristan is a craft beer fanatic who originally hails from Kentucky, which used to be a veritable wasteland for craft beer. Since moving to Colorado, he discovered a passion for hops, malts, brett strains, tinctures, nitros, and all things craft brew. He created this blog as a means for his friends across the country to a virtual porch drink and he hopes that you’ll join the revolution.

Roundtable Discussion: Derby Horse Names

May 1, 2013 |

As Drew cleverly noted on Monday, sometimes Derby horse names can be downright ridiculous… that and indie band names.  So this week we asked our staff members if they had the chance to name their own Kentucky Derby horses, what that name would be.  As per usual hilarity ensued… oh and apologize to any card carrying members of PETA.

PorchDrinking Playlist: Kentucky Derby Playlist

April 30, 2013 |

The first Saturday in May is one of my favorite days of the year.  The pageantry, the roses, the horses, the bourbon. April 1, 2013 |

Early this morning, in the twilight hours, PorchDrinking.com fell victim to the same salacious crimes that Burger King and Jeep had been terrorized with earlier last month.  While we are deeply disturbed and saddened by these juvenile acts, we are also not ashamed to share the results of this heinous ambush.  Mark my words, we will find these terrorists… and we will serve up the sweetest slice of pwnage pie they have ever tasted (thats l33tspeak for we will exact revenge).

Terrapin Brewing – Hop Karma Brown IPA

March 22, 2013 |

I generally follow the edict that beer should not be snobby. Drink it out of the bottle, hell bust out a solo cup if you must, but Terrapin’s Hop Karma Brown IPA is meant to breathe. It isn’t often you come across a Brown IPA.  Generally the nutty malty flavors are a bit hard to manage with the bitter hoppy flavors, but Terrapin Brewing’s Hop Karma Brown IPA balances those tastes perfectly.
