Jackie O’s Pub & Brewery | Polycephaly IV
June 9, 2020 | Loren WhiteWith so many breweries closed or offering limited service, it is a serious challenge to find a steady supply of great beer. Luckily, there are a few notable breweries that are offering shipping to states with a more liberal policy on out-of-state beer shipping (thank you VA, DC and AK!). Jackie O’s Pub & Brewery is one such notable example.
The good people at Jackie O’s are not just selling their more commonly found offerings, but have also opened up their cellars and are selling early examples in their sought-after Polycephaly series, including Polycephaly IV.
What We’re Drinking | May 01, 2020
May 1, 2020 | Constance Del RioAs we are all on the edge of our seats waiting to see what our states and counties will say about the shelter-in-place orders, I am sure we have a drink in our hands. This pandemic has brought out so many feelings across the board and we can appreciate them all. Our team is consistently trying to bring ya’ll non-pandemic-centric content but also bringing you the Craft Beer news as it develops. Let’s all take a collective breath, say something positive about the day, and check out what we’re drinking!
What We’re Drinking | April 5, 2019
April 5, 2019 | Anna DacostaI really miss out on the drastic changes spring delivers in contrast to winter because of my location. But I have beer to reel me in to the spring vibes. It’s been pretty wild first quarter of the year, and I don’t know about you, but I am ready for the warmer weather. Here are a few beers from our PorchDrinking family to help ease you into the season.
What We’re Drinking | December 14, 2018
December 14, 2018 | Seth GarlandYou know what’s great about beer? Whether you love the holidays or find yourself embracing your inner Scrooge, beer tastes sweet either way. It’s either used for a celebration or for comfort, depending on your current level of holiday stress. If you’ve gotten all your shopping done, gold star for you. You’re quite a few steps ahead of me. But if you’re forgetting to stock your beer fridge in lieu of stocking stockings, the PorchDrinkers have some great ideas for inspiration this week to fill the craft beer void in your life. This is What We’re Drinking.

August 10, 2018 | Constance Del RioSummer is ending, school is starting, but the sun is still setting later into the night. Jackie O’s Brewery | Scrip
August 28, 2017 | David NilsenAthens, Ohio, is a small college town hidden in the hills of southeast Ohio’s coal country that plays host to several excellent breweries, the oldest and most notable of which is Jackie O’s Brewery. Jackie O’s beers cover the spectrum of styles, from sessionable pale ales to barrel-aged behemoths, and rustic saisons to elegant barleywines. Nothing is off limits for this eclectic brewery, and it’s fitting that one of their most celebrated new beers this summer is a style that’s just beginning to creep into the consciousness of American craft beer drinkers—Grisette.

Event Preview | Ohio Brew Week
July 9, 2015 | Lindsay Krumel
Every summer, Ohio Brew Week takes over my tiny hometown of Athens, Ohio. Unfortunately, I tend to be on vacation for most of it. However, this year, I’m skipping the beach and staying here. The 10th Anniversary of Ohio Brew Week takes place July 10-18, and is bound to be the best one yet!
The brainchild of Dan Gates, former director of Ohio Brew Week, and the late Jon Sparhawk, a local business owner, this week-long “celebration of craft brewing” started as an idea “to attract visitors to Athens in the summertime when Ohio University is not in full session as a way to help restaurants and hotels survive those slower months.” Since then, it has expanded, and now includes more than 76 events, over 276 craft beers and awesome keynote speakers, like Steve Hindy, Chairman and Co-Founder of The Brooklyn Brewery and former Athens paperboy. Jackie O’s | Razz Wheat
March 2, 2015 | Lindsay Krumel
Jackie O’s Razz Wheat is certainly not a new beer, but it was just released in cans for the first time a couple weeks ago. Although it’s on tap year-round here in Athens, OH, Razz Wheat reminds me of summertime and sitting on Jackie O’s back patio. And during this brutal winter, I couldn’t be wishing for anything more!
