Avanti F&B to Host Telluride Brewing’s Greensky Lager Denver Release

It’s no secret that beer and music go hand-in-hand. In Colorado alone, breweries distinguish themselves by the music played in their taprooms, from metal at TRVE and Black Sky, punk rock at Ratio and Big Choice, jazz at Spangalang, rock at Black Shirt and bluegrass at just about every other brewery in the state… only slightly kidding. That said, when your town plays host to one of the most historic Bluegrass festivals in the nation, you’re bound to have a deeper connection to pickin’ and grinnin’ music.
Telluride Brewing which first partnered with Greensky Bluegrass in 2014 will be kicking off their Denver launch of Greensky Lager on Tuesday, June 19 from 5-7 p.m. at Avanti’s outdoor patio Wolf Bar. Such was the case when Avery Brewing Company announced that they would replace their wildly popular Strong Ale and Sour Fests with a new event concept. The Avery team recognized that in craft beer’s ever-evolving landscape, that change is necessary to stay ahead of the curve. It was with this impetus that this historic Boulder-based brewery introduced a fresh new festival, with the intent on maintaining elite level beer enjoyed without pretense or circumstance, while taking great consideration into the entire festival-goers experience, enter The Avery Invitational.

For anyone contemplating the perfect formula for throwing a successful beer fest and attracting elite level talent, we’ve figured it out. Start a well-respected brewery that produces phenomenal beer and then host an invitational. We’ve seen the pour list for this weekend’s sold out Avery Invitational, and this weekend’s attendees won’t be disappointed. Now we’ve also gotten a preview of the absolute heat being unleashed in two and a half weeks at the WeldWerks Invitational, and in the words of the immortal Uncle Jesse, “Have Mercy!”

Six Observations From Illinois Craft Beer Week (ICBW)

The inaugural Illinois Craft Beer Week (ICBW) replaced the former, annual Chicago Craft Beer Week (CCBW), but both the kick-off and closing festivals took place on Chicago’s north side, and most of the intra-week events occurred within the nation’s third-biggest market, which also happens to be where the vast majority of Illinois breweries operate. So, as they say, “A rose by any other name.” Nevertheless, the 2018 version is in the books and once again demonstrated that the enthusiasm for craft beer remains high. There are nuances to the industry and week-long festivities worthy of mentioning, so let’s take the time to note a few observations made during ICBW.
Odell Small Batch Festival 2018 Review: Something Old, Something New

Odell Brewing, home to the (unofficial) official Best Patio of Fort Collins, hosted its Small Batch Festival on May 26. Not many breweries can pull off a festival consisting entirely of their own brews, but the prolific Odell successfully produced a beer lineup consisting of old favorites and some brand new blends.
For $35, patrons received two 12oz pours (8oz for high ABV brews ), a stainless steel cup and 60+ beer options. This party isn’t new—Odell has hosted this festival a handful of times in the past decade—and in the late May summer sun, the Small Batch Festival definitely felt like a familiar get-together. It was part business as usual, but other aspects felt distinctly special. Here’s the breakdown of what felt old, and what was new:
