#Allagash – 2/2 – PorchDrinking.com
I’m not going to lie to you. I barely got on Twitter this week, and the bulk of that time was arguing the pronunciation of Hefeweizen with some podcasters. Despite that, I think I still managed to find a bunch of fun posts to share with you all! The most dominant theme was #DrinkItNow Day. I normally ignore made-up Twitter holidays, but this one seems worthwhile. Encouraging you beer-hoarding nerds to empty out your cellars is a mission I can really get behind! Open up that vertical of barrel-aged Stouts and enjoy The Weekly Buzz!
Foxboro, Mass. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy, and the New England Patriots are no exception to this. Our heroes, the Philadelphia Eagles, are about to meet these cheaters on the gridiron and bring the Lombardi Trophy home to the City of Brotherly Love. I know you’re all rooting for the right team. You’re impatient for the game to start. So, why not read a bunch of tweets about beer? This is The Weekly Buzz.
From Wentz we came. In Foles we trust.
Fly Eagles Fly.
It’s high time that we discuss something very important. That thing is the NFC Conference Championship. The result was exactly as I thought it would be — a thorough shellacking of the Minnesota Viking by a vastly superior football team. Nick Foles led the Eagles to victory and will do so again in the Super Bowl. Philly loves to be the underdog, so keep underestimating them, Tom Brady! Oh… and I found some beer things on Twitter, too. This is the Weekly Buzz.
Another week has gone by and, as usual, the Twitter-verse has been awash with craft beer news and shenanigans. To be honest, it was mostly shenanigans. OK… it’s almost always shenanigans. Don’t worry, though. There are also a few event announcements, job listings and some sad legislation to balance things out. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is The Weekly Buzz.
Every other month, PorchDrinking.com will tackle a style profile and, this month, the subject involves Saisons. Our motivation involves educating beer drinkers so they can more accurately identify beers and calibrate their senses accordingly. Beer can be a complex topic but worry not because PorchDrinking is here to show you the ropes – like an older brother or sister, only with less abuse and more information.
Like book lovers with towering bookshelves full of the classics, or hunters with heads o’ plenty adorning their walls, some beer nerds maintain extensive bottle collections. Indeed, aficionados of fermented malt and hops often engage in the art of cellaring beer. But not all of them agree with the idea of saving beer for later.
The delicious foods of Thanksgiving are behind us, and the darkness of Christmas shopping has enveloped us all. This week started out with three shopping holidays: Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday. What should I get my dad for Christmas? Does he already have a belt sander? I’m going to turn on my shower, curl up in the fetal position and wait for this all to blow over. You? You can pass your time with the beer news and shenanigans inside this edition of The Weekly Buzz.
Surprise! Fat Tire is now 25-years-old. Feeling old yet? The folks over at New Belgium are–but in the best way possible! Twenty-five years is no easy feat for a brewery nowadays, that’s why they’ve celebrated in a big way and got in touch with five collaboration partners and good friends of theirs to recreate versions of the iconic Fat Tire.
