On Wednesday, Oct. 27, five women took the stage at Logan Street Market to discuss the challenges and triumphs of working in the beer industry.
Kindsey Bernhard was fortunate to be able to be one of those five women and the moderator of the Women in Beer panel. So, in Episode 57 of the “Boys Are From Märzen” podcast, Kindsey is joined by Lori Beck, Kaitlyn Colberg, Leah Dienes and Amelia Pillow.

October 8, 2021 | Kindsey BernhardAgainst the Grain Brewery opened its doors in 2011 as Louisville’s first brewer-owned and operated brewery. And over the past ten years, Against the Grain has grown to four locations and a production facility. From the beginning of the Smokehouse in 2011 to opening the Public House in 2019, ATG has made a name for itself as a brewpub. However, this past year ATG decided to dabble into something more than beer and opened their first music venue, the Flamingo Lounge. ATG went back to its roots, and most recently, opened the ATG Sandwich Emporium which sits above the Flamingo Lounge in downtown Louisville.
Hi-Wire Brewing to Open Louisville Location

Pillow opened Shippingport Brewing in the Portland neighborhood of Louisville, KY, becoming the first taproom and brewpub to open in Louisville’s West End.
Campaign Launched to Make the Kentucky Common the Official Beer of Kentucky
July 15, 2021 | Kindsey BernhardA campaign has been launched to make the Kentucky Common the official beer of the state of Kentucky. Michael Moeller, co-founder of Louisville Ale Trail, sent a request to Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear’s office to consider naming the Kentucky Common the official beer style of Kentucky through executive order.
Kentucky has a state flower, a state tree, a state mammal, a state horse, a state food, a state dance, and many more state insignias. It’s time to add a state beer to the list.
Atrium Brewing Partners with Louisville Bats to Launch “Bat Boy”

The Louisville brewery and minor league baseball have teamed up to launch Bat Boy, a blackberry lemonade Sour Ale beer branded exclusively for the Louisville Bats. Read More
Falls City Beer | Lou City Kölsch
June 22, 2021 | Kindsey BernhardLouisville City FC was founded in 2015 as Kentucky’s and the city of Louisville’s first professional soccer club. LouCity is part of the United Soccer League (USL) and the team quickly made its mark in the league, winning back-to-back USL Cup Final championships in 2017 and 2018.
LouCity’s success extends beyond the pitch. The Boys in Purple have had major success off the field by creating a large following and support from fans. LouCity fans were seminal supporters for the newly built Lynn Family Stadium, which is now home to LouCity and NWSL’s Racing Louisville FC.
To show support for the hometown team, Falls City Brewing Co. partnered with the two-time USL Cup Final champions to brew Lou City Kölsch Style Ale.

Louisville Beer Appreciation Day to Honor City’s Past & Present Breweries

Gravely Brewing Co. | La Bamba Mexican Lager
April 26, 2021 | Kindsey BernhardIt’s officially porch drinking, grass mowing, sitting by the pool and boating season. And some of the best beers to pair with those occasions are Mexican Lagers.
One Mexican Lager in particular that you’ll see a lot of Kentuckians pairing with those occasions is Gravely Brewing La Bamba Mexican Lager. La Bamba has been a fan-favorite at Gravely since opening in August 2018.
Against the Grain Brewery to Open Downtown Louisville Location
April 12, 2021 | Kindsey BernhardThe past year and a half has been very difficult for businesses in downtown Louisville. Between the COVID-19 shutdowns, the lack of tourism and the Breonna Taylor protests, downtown Louisville has taken an unfortunate hit.
Against the Grain Brewery is hoping to change that. The brewery announced they are opening their fourth location in downtown Louisville in the building that formerly housed Another Place Sandwich Shop and Jimmy Can’t Dance that closed on February 28, 2021.
